sir josh is FINALLY tall enough to get a blue wristband. which means that he’s finally tall enough to go on the ghoster coaster.

poor thing.

but, this year was his year. we were having company for dinner and we had time for one more ride for each kid. of course, they each picked this one. since they weren’t tall enough to ride alone (it will be years before they are purples…) i took Josh first while Emily waited…and then we were going to switch.

after about a 20 minute wait, just as we were about to get close to the platform, Josh starts doing the pishy dance.

“do you have to pee?”

“no”

“are you sure?”

“yes”

“are you really sure?”

“No! i needa make! now!”

so, we get out of the line, walk the three miles to the closest bathroom, have a fight because he doesn’t want to use the women’s bathroom and then get back in line for another 30 minutes.

we finally get on the ride. we go up the first climb. the look of glee on his face was amazing. the kid was so happy.

and then we dropped. and so did his face. the ghoster coaster did not live up to his expectations at all. “mommy, we don’t ever need to go on this ride again, okay?”

and poor Emily, she missed her turn because Josh had to line up twice.Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β and she loves the stinkin’ ride. i’m sure i’ll never hear the end of this. from either of them. ah, it’s going to be a GREAT summer…

  1. Even though she’s barely two, MTM and I have already had the following conversation:
MTM: So, I figured we would take her to Wonderland this summer.
SFD: K. You know I don’t do coasters, right?
MTM: You don’t like roller coasters?
SFD: Nope. If you’re taking her there, you’re riding whatever she wants to ride.
MTM: Well, I don’t like them either.
SFD: Sounds like you’re in trouble then, seeing as how I wasn’t the one to suggest taking her.

  4. Last summer my son, who was 6yo at the time, had hit the purple range. Which is fine, because I love roller coasters. But OH MAN!!! Was he excited!! We went on almost every ride in the park that day!!

  6. I love love love love Wonderland, and we’re so getting a season’s pass this year (just me and my son since my husband hates rides). I’d so go on the ghoster coaster. I love it all.

  7. oh my gosh, i remember when i was growing up that all i wanted was to be able to ride the corkscrew at knott’s berry farm. i was just waiting and waiting. finally, we were going to the park, and i knew i’d grown enough. we went straight to the corkscrew and…

… it was halfway torn down to make way for some new ride. ACK! πŸ™

    i think i cried a lot.

  8. Ha! The one and only time that I went to Canada’s Wonderland, my then-boyfriend tricked me into going on this stand-up coaster and I wouldn’t go on another ride for the rest of the day.

  9. As you well know, Ali, my husband and I are breeding giants so my now 7.5 year old son was 2.5 when he first went on the Ghoster Coaster…and he LOVED IT! He was able to go on grown-up coasters at 5. I was ready to hurl but he just wants to keep going.

My 4.5 year old (not giant like her bro) is just now tall enough so we’ll see…not sure how keen she’ll be.

Give Joshy a few years and a little peer pressure and he’ll be tackling The Bat!

  10. I’m sooooooooo not ready for Canada’s Wonderland. When I am, though, you’re totally showing me the ropes!

  11. Glad everyone had a good time. Although it does reinforce how much I hate rollercoasters…
