you’ll have to excuse me…i’m spending my morning attempting to use my new fancy scary mouse
(cue ali’s readers: yes, ali, we get it. it’s time to shut the fuck up about your wrist already. we know you’re broken)
so, yesterday, in addition to attending to my perc-ed up husband’s needs (surgery went well, he’s recovering nicely in our bed, using all four of our pillows, no less) and not having breakfast with tova and ilana for her birthday (sob. i always miss the good stuff), i got to send 4 Canadian students to China for the Olympics.
no, really, i swear.
i was deemed worthy to be a judge (thank you thank you thank you) in the company of some amazing people, including the lovely Nicole Forrester, who is not only huge in person (seriously…i’m 5’2 and dude, she’s tall) she’s huge in the Olympics…she’s a top-ranked Canadian high jumper…and also, a super awesome person. (i tried to keep my drooling to a minimum)
Visa Olympics of the Imagination allows students across Canada to express the theme of global unity in the form of artwork. they were asked to show how the Olympic Games connect different cultures and capture the Beijing theme – One World, One Dream.
we had a good time weeding out the best of the best. and had some serious laughs along the way. we loved the drawings with skating (for the summer olympics) and the random snowmen. and even the random SKULLS? skulls! i swear! and the dragons! everyone had a good time drawing different dragons of all shapes and sizes and creepiness level. our all-time favorite laugh had to be the poster entitled “Balls of Life” ahahahah (i wanted to take that one home with me!)
in the end, though, it was AMAZING to see what these kids had to say for themselves, and what the Olympics meant to them. I was so glad to be a part of sending these kids to Beijing. The winners truly deserved it!
also…i sampled a Golden Oreo Cakester...
THUMBS DOWN!
(i mean, i ATE it, but it soooo wasn’t worth it)
pass the cinnabons please.
