because of the underwhelming response that i got as far as questions go…there were exactly three questions asked…and two of them were asked by one person….i’m opening up the floor for one more day. bah. y’all suck. so…here i go…asking you all to tell me how much you love me. ask me anything. the sky’s the limit. 🙂
i will go ahead and answer the first three questions.
from Sarah: What is the best book you’ve ever read?
this is such a tough question. i’m a big reader and have so many books in my lifetime that have really touched me in different ways. my all-time favorite book is Franny and Zooey by Salinger. most people go for the Catcher in the Rye cop-out-y answer. but Franny and Zooey touched me so much more, on a much deeper level.
as a kid, my favorite book was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. i still like it. i’ve always loved Our Town by Thornton Wilder. Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. Great Gatsby. Pride and Prejudice. Hamlet. okay, i think i need to stop now.
#2, also from Sarah: How old were you when you got married?
ah, yes, what everyone wants to know. how many years did Ali stay a virgin?? it may ease some of your shocked minds – or perhaps shock you a little bit more – when i tell you that i was 20 when i got married. NOT an unusual age to lose your virginity, but not quite the usual age to get married.
#3, from The Lurker: What is the moment in your life you are most ashamed of?
this is different than your most embarrassing moment…that would have been easy. the time i stuck my ass through the back of a chair at Jack and Ilana’s. holy hell, i’m still trying to get over that.
ashamed of? i don’t know if this is something i’m the MOST ashamed of. but, when i was in Israel for the year after high school, we discovered that this girl, Melanie, was stealing from us. little things – like food and hair clips….but also things like money and jewelery. she didn’t need it, she was loaded. clearly, she had a problem. we didn’t really care enough to try to get her help. we set her up and caught her in the act and got her kicked out of school. i was a stupid kid, and i was mean as a snake to boot. the combination was lethal. i still feel badly about it.

American Idol completely sucked poisonous beans last night. I will say that my two favorite performances were by the two guys who picked songs that are actually from this decade. Chris Richardson (oh he of the bad skin and the bad head-bobbing) and Blake (oh he of the beatboxing fame). I actually really like Chris Sligh but the comment to Simon was unnecessary. and yes, i had to google ‘Simon Cowell and the teletubbies’ because i totally didn’t get the reference.
there was so much cheese last night that i couldn’t watch it without crackers. Sundance needed to go home weeks ago. why are they keeping him around? (i will say, though, i’m glad he covered up his bear-y chest)
Phil was okay. he’s definitely NO Chris Daughtry. and he’s really unfortunate looking. his head is so gigantic and his ears are not the same size and seriously he needs to put a hat on or grow himself some hair. maybe he can borrow a wig from Britney.
