because of the underwhelming response that i got as far as questions go…there were exactly three questions asked…and two of them were asked by one person….i’m opening up the floor for one more day. bah. y’all suck. so…here i go…asking you all to tell me how much you love me. ask me anything. the sky’s the limit. 🙂

i will go ahead and answer the first three questions.

from Sarah: What is the best book you’ve ever read?

this is such a tough question. i’m a big reader and have so many books in my lifetime that have really touched me in different ways. my all-time favorite book is Franny and Zooey by Salinger. most people go for the Catcher in the Rye cop-out-y answer. but Franny and Zooey touched me so much more, on a much deeper level.

as a kid, my favorite book was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. i still like it. i’ve always loved Our Town by Thornton Wilder. Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. Great Gatsby. Pride and Prejudice. Hamlet. okay, i think i need to stop now.

#2, also from Sarah: How old were you when you got married?

ah, yes, what everyone wants to know. how many years did Ali stay a virgin?? it may ease some of your shocked minds – or perhaps shock you a little bit more – when i tell you that i was 20 when i got married. NOT an unusual age to lose your virginity, but not quite the usual age to get married.

#3, from The Lurker: What is the moment in your life you are most ashamed of?

this is different than your most embarrassing moment…that would have been easy. the time i stuck my ass through the back of a chair at Jack and Ilana’s. holy hell, i’m still trying to get over that.

ashamed of? i don’t know if this is something i’m the MOST ashamed of. but, when i was in Israel for the year after high school, we discovered that this girl, Melanie, was stealing from us. little things – like food and hair clips….but also things like money and jewelery. she didn’t need it, she was loaded. clearly, she had a problem. we didn’t really care enough to try to get her help. we set her up and caught her in the act and got her kicked out of school. i was a stupid kid, and i was mean as a snake to boot. the combination was lethal. i still feel badly about it.

American Idol completely sucked poisonous beans last night. I will say that my two favorite performances were by the two guys who picked songs that are actually from this decade. Chris Richardson (oh he of the bad skin and the bad head-bobbing) and Blake (oh he of the beatboxing fame). I actually really like Chris Sligh but the comment to Simon was unnecessary. and yes, i had to google ‘Simon Cowell and the teletubbies’ because i totally didn’t get the reference.

there was so much cheese last night that i couldn’t watch it without crackers. Sundance needed to go home weeks ago. why are they keeping him around? (i will say, though, i’m glad he covered up his bear-y chest)

Phil was okay. he’s definitely NO Chris Daughtry. and he’s really unfortunate looking. his head is so gigantic and his ears are not the same size and seriously he needs to put a hat on or grow himself some hair. maybe he can borrow a wig from Britney.

  1. I totally agree on you AI recap. You are good at that.

    A question…let’s see…I wanna be deep…But I’m not all that deep.

    What is your biggest fear?

  2. MY question is: If you could be on one reality show, which would you choose?

I watched most of American Idol and I am with you on the most current songs, but UNLIKE you I don’t know their names well yet. I likes Chris R. for SURE. Of course I love that song. And I like the guy that was last. The one with the wife and daughters. He is my top choice right now. Some of them sucked SO bad. Seriously. I was thinking, THIS is the best in the USA? COME ON!

  3. Not shocked, kind of impressed actually. The Presidential suite – not too many girls get that. It pays to be a nice southern girl.
Now that I think about it mine was on a water bed. what the hell were we all doing?
I also get performance anxiety and cannot pee for an audience.
    Absurd after giving birth no?

  4. You want questions? You got questions.

Why don’t you like the zoo?

What one thing in your house would you be mortified to discover was placed on the mantle before you had guests over? (I’m not talking soiled diaper kind of thing… I’m talking some item in your house that you’re ashamed to admit is in it.)

Assuming statute of limitations applies, what laws are you guilty of breaking?

  5. I have a question! How many licks does it take you to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Toosie Pop?

And while you’re licking how about if you could travel anywhere on the planet for free with all the time off you wanted, where would you go, why and what would you bring me back?

  6. I’ve never read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I’ll have to fix that!

  7. Ok, a few things…
First of all I have to say it: you got married at 20? Holy hell. I can’t even imagine it!
Now on to more important things…I want to know…
-How does a Peach-Cheese end up in Canada?
-If you could be a famous person for a day, who would you be and what would you do for that day?
I think that will keep you busy for a moment or two…

  8. Kids – even kids in high school – aren’t well known for being compassionate. I don’t think that’s the worst thing I’ve ever heard.
I didn’t get a chance to comment on that post yesterday, or I would have asked you LOTS of questions! Rude, prying questions! Aren’t you glad that I couldn’t comment yesterday now?

  11. THANK YOU on the Sundance thing…he sucks seriously bad. I liked the beat box guy too..he’s my fav. so far. I love that song though, so I may be partial to it.

Ok, so for a question. (I forgot about that part yesterday…sorry!!! hehe)

Umm….what are your favorite kind of jeans?? Random enough?

  14. Where to you see yourself in 10 years? (career, house, city etc)

What is the one thing that you do for yourself, not you as mom or wife or friend, but just for you that makes you happiest?

Comment by sarah on February 21, 2007
  15. okay, it’s a more normal time of day now, so here are some questions:

    1) if you could bring anyone back from the dead, but to do so would have to kill someone (personally and directly) would you do it? if so, who would you bring back?

    2) there are a lot of blogger awards out there these days. if you were going to make up an award, what award would you make and to whom would you give it? how about if you were going to give yourself one?

    3) how long do you think it will take you to answer all these questions? 😉

  18. Hi. i just came across your blog the other day and it is really cute. I’ll make myself right at home here- here are some questions….
How did you meet your husband and was he also 20 when you got married?

How did your parents react when you told them you were getting married so young?

What was the most you have ever weighed (9th month of pregnancy not included) and what was the least (as an adult)?

  19. I thought Blake was the best.
And seriously, now I have to go google simon and the teletubbies, dammit.

And yeah, I hate it when the people get all mouthy with Simon.
