well, i did it. take that, Chantal! i took the plunge and watched Big Brother last night. for the first time. okay, so everything about this show is BAD. except for when the dude with the pepperoni nipples starts talking about he immaculately conceived gonorrhea. the host is annoying and had scary, scary hair. the people are already starting to bug. Evil Dick looks like a poor man’s Tommy Lee (and also, a little bit Survivor Lex). “America’s Player” (seriously, what the fuck is up with that) is Jason Biggs lite with twin nipple rings. ew. kail needs to go home. now.

but damnit to hell, i’m already hooked.

and also oddly entertaining…Shaq’s Big Challenge. The pickings are slim this summer, folks. I’ve already given up on the OC/Dawson’s Creek wannabe Hidden Palms…because, well, because there’s no Ryan. or Pacey. Entourage is better than ever and Big Love can do no wrong in my books. This weeks episode was its best yet. Skeevy Alby touching Sarah’s hair? Adaleen destroying the tape? Batshit crazy Wanda outsmarts Bill – there’s no Arby’s in Meeker! i love it!

you add in the half-assed Canadian Idol and Canada’s Next Top Model that both suck but i watch because i. just. can’t. turn. away. (although the visit this week from Nigel Barker made me swoon)

and that’s all i’m watching this summer.

what about you? what are you watching?

I sometimes get bogged down by all the blogs i read. seriously, i have 284 sites in my bloglines. (yes, i still use bloglines. yes, you can suck it) Bloggers are updating too quickly for me to keep up, and when i do get to all the sites, i’m somewhat disenchanted. (now, don’t you all start getting paranoid being all, “oh, ali thinks i suck…” because that’s NOT what this is about) the point is that these days, I am tickled pink when i find a writer who can make me laugh so hard i almost wet my pants.

  1. I’ve been an off and on BB fan for a while. This year we’re going to try to watch it together though (haven’t really watched last night yet – taped for tonight).

I’m also watching Pirate Master… if you wanted to know how Mark Burnett would revamp Survivor, this is the show… everything that makes Survivor predictable (alliances, winning streaks) are virtually impossible in this show.

Other than that, I agree… pickings are slim. We’re watching S3 of The Pretender on DVD (MTM never saw it the first time around) and I’m spending a lot of time with the PSP.

  2. I’m watching On the Lot (love – except for Carrie Fisher who always seems wasted), From the Ground Up (meh), Dexter (love) and Canada’s Next Top Model (yawn). I do like Big Love, but somehow missed that the new season has started. We mostly watch Dateline, Primetime, 48 hours mystery – all the shows where the husband kills the wife…

  3. Julia Chen is the worst, becuase while they find new idiots for big brother, they keep bringing the biggest idiot back to host!

The Closer and Burn Notice, both on cable, though the closer is way way better

  4. I love ‘Big Brother’. I’ve been a fan since day one the first season. O.k. the gay guy’s nipples…CRAZY! I loved all the shots they kept getting in of his nipples. I think Evil Dick’s daughter is just as scary looking though too.
I’m also watching ‘Big Love’ and ‘john from cincinatti’. Those are really my only must haves for the summer.

  5. There’s tv in the summer?? I’m a huge “How I Met Your Mother” fan and am waiting for that to start up again. Why are all my favorite shows on in the school year!!!?

So, I sit tight and watch every lame reality show out there..pref by MTV. The X-Effect….Real World/Road Rules Challenge…

  6. I missed the BB premiere last night *pout*

The first episode is always the worst and I always hate the new people because they weren’t last years people.. but it’s so addicting!

Ya, people totally have to slow down with the posts, I am so far behind… and when I realize just how far, I put off reading.. it’s a vicious circle!

  8. you are so right about the slim pickings for summer viewing….

  9. The best part about Big Brother is watching Julie’s insane camel toe progress. It’s gross, I know, but so true.

There is no need for any other TV in the summer. BB is on three times a week and it’s so bad you can’t look away. Like Julie’s camel toe!

  10. MTV: 8th and Ocean, Maui Fever….
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, BIG BROTHER.
Big Brother is THE BEST because of everything that’s WRONG with it! 😉 It’s freaking hilarioius — and THREE DAYS A WEEK — how good is THAT!?

  11. We started watching House just recently. So this summer I hope to catch up on previous seasons.
I also watch American’s next top model. But we’re about 687 seasons behind in my country. By the time a seasons airs here, the model career of the winner is already over and she probably only stars in those annoying anti-age lotion commercials for middle aged women.

  12. Dh and I watch Rescue Me in the summer on FX. We like it! You would probably have to rent it from Season one so you wouldn’t be completely lost.

I like the Closer too in the summer. Regular tv sucks in the summer!

Oh, I do like So You Think You Can Dance too…

  13. I’m really looking forward to “The Singing Bee”. Not only to hear off-keyed people make fools of themselves, but also to finally learn the correct lyrics to songs.

  14. You’re right about Big Love, I was thinking that it was a little weird there for a while (well, weirder than the general theme of the whole show anyhow!) but this last episode got me back on track. So much . . . anyway, glad I’m not the only one who watches!

Comment by Carrie on July 6, 2007
  15. Bossy is honored by your nomination. But she is perplexed about one thing: Big Love. Is it really that good? Bossy and her friend Martha rented the first season on DVD and they can’t decide if they like it. Has a little something to do with those creepy polygamists.

Comment by BOSSY on July 7, 2007
  16. I’m hooked too–my first time watching it too! I agree with you, the host is super annoying!

  17. I have a lot of friends blogs bookmarked,
and I can never keep up daily.
    Sometimes I feel bad,
but then I remember how busy everyone is and doubt that any of them read their friends blogs all the time.
