i’m in big trouble. i have a mall, like, literally across the street from my house. i swear. it’s actually faster to walk there than to drive there. it’s thisclose. usually, it’s great. i meet Tova there for coffee after work every monday. it has a great children’s resource center where my nanny takes Isabella twice a week. i’m a hop-skip-and-and-a-jump from many things, if i need them. pharmacy. grocery.

but, you see, they’ve been trying to spruce this mall up. by adding new-and-improved stores. like coach. and BCBG. and…fuck me….a Lucky Store.

it just opened. and i’ve already bought a pair of jeans (happy mother’s day, ali!) and i’ve already salivated over all the hoodies i need to buy. i’m a hoodie girl, and you can never have enough…and lucky? well, they are like a hallmark card…they care enough to make the very best.

remember this?

oh yes, that’s lucky. *drool*

i think i either need to move. or i’ll probably be getting divorced.

happy mother’s day to all you moms out there. i got my mother’s day wish. i got to sleep in until 9:30. and then woke up to a giant Tim Horton’s coffee. bliss. i know, i’m easy.

Miss Isabella made me a 400-pound necklace that she was giddy with excitment to give me. she has been asking me every 20 minutes if i like it…and why i’m not wearing it.

and Miss Emily wrote me a story. a very creepy story. but she did it all by herself. and i’m impressed with her spelling (i’m not a freak mom…i’m just trying to keep the focus away from the story content…because, um, bizarro!). you can read it here…if you dare!!!

and sir Josh…gave me, erm, nothing. he wouldn’t even pose for a picture. MEN!

i’m having a contest over at Juice! this week…i’m giving away copies of the soon-to-be-released Bod Dylan non-biopic “I’m Not There“…you know…the one where Christian Bale, and Heath Ledger, and Richard Gere, and Cate Blanchett all play Bob Dylan….

…well, come on over and tell me your favorite Bob Dylan song and you could win!

also…while you’re at it…poke around at the new UrbanMoms site. it’s bigger and better than ever! you will have to register (even if you are already getting the emails) to leave comments…but it’s worth it! (and then there’s no more word verification!)

    Happy Mother’s Day, Ali.

  8. So the girl just realized the only perfect friend would be herself! At least she figured it out early. heh

I love the giant necklace! Sometime I’ll have to show you the bracelet Roenick made me 2 years ago. lol I wore it once, that was enough to make him happy.

There’s no way we wouldn’t go bankrupt if I had Lucky hoodies within walking distance. We’d be living in a van down by the river.

We had big plans for Mother’s Day, then someone dropped 250 pages of editing in my lap. So pizza and a walk through the University garden it was. But I did get a new Nikon D80, so the trip through the garden was a good photo op.

  12. Wow, no matter the tripy story, your girl can spell! Way to go Emily!

My son painted for me a ceramic candle holder – it is very sweet. Then this a.m. he said he had something else for me, but things he forgot it at school (it’s a poem the class wrote) and he started to cry. Awww…poor kid! (but .. ah, why did he just remember MONDAY am that he forgot it .. weird…)

  14. *GASP* You have a HOODIE store across the street? I would be broke. I am currently in the process of wearing out my light-blue Nike hoodie, and covet MORE!!!!!!!! lol

That story is just… just… i don’t even have words for it. But is it just me, or IS it a little worrysome that your child wants to relive the day she caused you excruciating pain and agony??

  15. My oldest kid is possibly the worst speller of all time, so I’m pretty impressed.
And a mall across from your house? Good grief! There’s one store in my town, pretty much!

  18. I guess it’s a good thing you don’t work at the mall! I once worked in a clothing store and literally spent every single paycheck on clothing. It was ridiculous. Off to read the story… 🙂 Happy Belated Mother’s Day.

  20. They have LUCKY there, now!?!? It was crazy enough when they added Lulu! They’re, like, a full-on mall, now!

I got a sweet little decorated jewelry box from the monkey. So sweet! I’ll save Emily’s book for later (no time at the moment — things are CRAZAY!)
