We recently got the D40 and I love it. Takes amazing pictures on the auto setting. One of my goals for the summer is to learn to use the other stuff. See my blog from yesterday with pictures of my daughter’s 14th birthay…the long shadows, the evening sun, the lovely girls…the pictures are amazing. And I just point and shoot!

I love SLRs for taking stills. I’ve got a (film) Elan II with USM lenses and everything.
But I’ve been corrupted by the multi-function of the pocket digicam; it can do both video and still, neither perfectly, yet generally acceptably.
But yeah, one day (that “one day” all parents have, when the kids aren’t sucking the cash out of any orifice they can find) I’d like to get a D-SLR to mount my lenses on.
And I concur: sure the pics are good, but realistically with those kids, how could they not be?

Lovely photos! I have a Rebel dSLR and just LOVE it. I don’t think it’s possible to take a bad photo with it!!
