I hope I get to talk to her again soon.

That’s what I want people to say about me after I leave the room.

I mean, if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t complain much if people talking about my impeccable taste in music, my infectious smile and my legs for days.

(Also my humility, it seems)

I suffer, at times, from feeling the too muches. Too loud, too quiet, too full of nervous energy. Too full of opinions, too full of conversation stoppers, too diarrhea-of-the-mouth-y. Too much of an oversharer (Yes I did take a caffeine suppository on Yom Kippur). I’ve always kind of worried that my awkwardness shows like spanx on a red carpet.

But now I think I’ve full-on embraced my Sarah Jessica Parker circa 1982.

Get it?

(How about now?)

I’m awkward and it’s totally awesome.

I make you do insane things like go rollerskating. Like, legit old-school, 4-wheeled, disco-ball-turning, Jon-Bon-Jovi-music-playing rollerskating.

I make you participate in podcasts about Dawson’s Creek. I make you play all of the Catans with me. I make you watch The Wire. I make you listen to how much I didn’t like Lord of the Rings on account of all the foliage and I didn’t like that movie about the Dragon Tattoo on account of all the sandwiches and how the 5th book of Harry Potter was the worst because it was when Harry Potter was the worst. I make you consider what fictional schools you’d like to attend. I support an ‘oof’ button and talk a lot about recycling. I force you to not allow me to cut bangs. Sometimes I wow you with my ability re-enact the entire Annie movie from start to finish. (Note: The original) I force you to listen to whackadoo theories about how Daniel in The Karate Kid was the bad guy and Johnny was not just a creampuff—he was the good guy.

Also, I make you listen to my legit concerns about the fact that no one told Joseph Gordon Levitt to button those buttons and make you listen to him sing Lithium.

And I make you think about what you want people to say about you when you leave the room.

  1. I’m pretty sure they could have cut the Dragon Tattoo trilogy into a single book by just cutting out all the sandwich & coffee talk.

  2. I could NOT make it past the first book. I really tried. But I got so bored. And hungry.

  3. I want them to say how funny I am and that I’m so cool that they of course want to be my friend! 🙂
