My Yom Kippur goals are simple, as they really are my goals year-long, I just have more time to think about it while I’m doing that whole undercaffeinated-not-eating-praying-sitting-in-synagogue thing.

Be a better me today than I was yesterday. Be a better me tomorrow than I was today.

Be more gracious today than yesterday. Be more grateful tomorrow than today.

Forward.

Moving forward a little bit at a time is something I can do without risk of drowning, feeling like a failure, or giving up. (Or all three.)

I will never be a runner because a) I have a fairly horrific case of shin splints and b) I like to sit on my couch. But I do want to make movements to get in shape since my little (read: big) cinnamon bun habit is catching up with me. But who says I have to be runner? The way I see it, I just need to move more today than yesterday. And then move more tomorrow than today.

Little is big.

Today. And definitely tomorrow.

  1. Shana Tova to you all and here’s to new beginnings – I’ve been teaching Miranda about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and to say that to her two Jewish school BFFs and that Beth abs Claire don’t have to fast but their older sisters do (or did yesterday). I think a good clean out is in order here too – and new beginnings for a lot of people. Best wishes to all the Martells and family – how are the kids going at their new schools???? Xxoo
