January 8 09

so…you know how i always talk about how i’ve never been “hit on” or “picked up” or whatever it is the kids are calling it these days…

(and no…for the record…i don’t count the cute little old men who buy me coffee at Tim Horton’s or the 14-year-old boys who ogle me at the library)

…well, last week i thought my luck had changed. The husband and i had gone to dinner and were waiting outside for the valet to bring our car around (free valet! awesome!) and this very, very, very good looking man came and stood beside me.

and then he started talking

(he may have been slightly inebriated)

and asking about my new year’s and if it was good and he told me about how he was still celebrating and was in denial that school wass starting back up again because he loved being off for the holidays and then he started asking some more questions.

and here i was feeling all proud of myself.

and then i realized.

yes, he was flirting.

but not with me.

with THE HUSBAND.

apparently, he’s not into the ladies who like to lick their children’s gingerbread houses to get them to stop eating them…

alihouse

or the ladies who look HOTHOTHOT in McDonald’s uniforms…

mcds

or maybe it was my lack of penis that was focusing his attention elsewhere…

divider

it’s no secret that i’m an audiophile a music lover and not an audiophile like i’d once thought because apparently, an audiophile is someone who not only loves music but is obsessed with high-end audio equipment…and i, well, i just like to listen. a lot. on my ipod. in my car. on my work pc.

and i’m also a huge lover of Canadian music

canadianmusic

(NO! not Celine Dion. why does everyone automatically go straight to Celine when we talk about Canadian music)…no, i’m talking about Arcade Fire, and Broken Social Scene, and Wolf Parade, and Feist – yes, she’s Canadian!, and Metric, and Stars, and Sunset Rubdown, and City and Colour, and Bedouin Soundclash, and The New Pornographers, and Alexis on Fire, and Protest the Hero, and Tegan and Sara, and Sam Roberts, and Emily Haines, and Hot Hot Heat, and there are so many more but i see you have left me to go and download some new music…

BUT WAIT! don’t go yet… my friends at
itunes canada asked me if i’d be interested in giving away a $25 itunes gift card to my Canadian readers (sorry, all my lovely non-canucks, these only work in the mothercountry), i was all, heck ya! I am a big believer in giving music as gifts. i make cds. i buy my sister ipods and fill them with music. i give itunes gift cards all the time.

25-holiday08

Seriously, anything that can be purchased at a grocery store, while i’m already there doing my shopping? BEST. GIFTS. EVER.
the folks at itunes wanted me to let you know that you can buy them at Sobeys, Mac’s and A&P (in the Toronto area) and Safeway, Save-on Foods and Coop (in the Vancouver area)

just tell me the name of the last song you listened to in the comments and you are automatically entered!

If so, it Cuts Like a Knife that you’re not Waking the Neighbours with his music. I could Take to the Road and Run to You with a CD if you’d like because (Everything I Do) I Do It For You.

Yeah, I’m done. 🙂 That came Straight from the Heart.

I secretly way love Canada for the bi-lingual-ness and because so many fine tv shows on US tv are produced over here. I also enjoy South Park, which pokes fun at Canadians.

    *pouts*

And I am sad I can’t get an iTUnes gift card because I don’t live there – maybe I should convince my husband to move to Vancouver Metro or Toronto Metro (only two places I could handle, sorry).

    Yo, It starts with
One thing, I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme
    To explain in due time
    All I know
    time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
    The clock ticks life away
    It’s so unreal
    I Didn’t look out below
I Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on, and didn’t even know
    Wasted it all just to
    Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me, will eventually, be a memory, of a time when I tried so
