Mascara is a VERY iffy thing. too little and it’s all “where’d her eyes go” and too much and it’s all “clump much?”

the first mascara i ever tried was none other than everyone’s first mascara…the infamous Maybelline Great Lash

i wore this for years. too many years.

and then i ventured outside of Walgreens and into the clinique bonus time. oh yes, i did. (shut up, so did you!)

and then, i graduated to Prescriptives. There were no white coats…so, it had to be better, right?

Here To Stay 24-Hour Longwear Mascara

and then i discovered the golden god…MAC.

unfortunately, as good as their make-up is, their mascara is pure shit. It’s clumpy. It’s AWFUL.

so, i moved on…to Lancome. I know, right? Lacome. but, seriously, i loved the Definicils that everyone was pushing. everyone. But, then my friend Aimee (who has THE best eyes in the world) changed my life forever.

PURE BLISS

(just FYI. it’s Lancome’s CILS Booster and Hypnose)

beauty.

i swear.

try it. you won’t be sorry. and you will never wear another mascara again.

(also, all you Canadians out there…did you know you can buy it at Shoppers Drug Mart??!! Because i sure didn’t.)

  3. I was in the market for a new mascara since I’m blond and have NO lashed to work with. The name is Hypnose? Where can I get it in the US? Regular drug stores?

  7. I buy mascara once a year and wear it for about a month (during the Holiday party season). I’m usually disappointed with the product I’ve purchased by the beginning of January and it goes into makeup storage (a dark place that takes up half of our garage).

As someone who wouldn’t leave the house without mascara pre-kids, I feel hopeful given your recommendation and I’m going to try and see if I can stick with this new brand. Thanks!

  8. See, this is what people fail to recognize, and I’m super happy you’ve noticed (because you’ve said before that make-up is not your thing). MAC makes the worst ever mascara!! WTF? They make the best of everything and they bomb where it counts most? Well, next to concealing.
I used Definicils for years.. but now, I prefer that really thin wand. I use Chanel (Sculpte Cils) but you can find the same wand at Lancome (Fatale)..

  12. Is it 2 different mascaras?
    I’m a little confused.

I am a big Voluminous by Loreal fan.

  13. I am all about finding awesome mascaras, and I’m not that much of a make-up gal. I love Ultimate Very Black by Mary Kay. I used to think MK was for super old women, but they’ve revamped their line and I love that mascara.

  15. I always go back to the Great Lash. Always. I think I’ve tried all the others except the Lancome.(and yes, Mac is awful).
My problem, though, is that my eyelashes are too dark and long and so most make my eyelashes look really clumpy.
But, I’ll try it. I need new mascara anyway.

  16. Ok you mean I have to use both right? Because Hypnose alone, from my experience, is too thick and clumps. Tell me I have to use both. Because I wont use Hypnose alone and I’m a total snob like that.

  17. Clinique Long, Pretty Lashes. I tried Great Lash a couple of months ago because I kept reading everywhere that it was the Greatest Mascara Ever…and I thought it was the crappiest mascara ever. Even took it back to Walgreens for a refund.

  18. [...] Then today, I was pondering a post about mascara that I read last week by my new friend Ali (She’s Canadian, eh?). I usually use Rimmel. From Wal-Mart. Yes, yes I do. [...]
