I’m actually surprised at how many of my friends don’t vote. I guess maybe it’s because i grew up in a very politics-oriented family. I can’t recall a dinner conversation where politics didn’t come up at least several times during the meal. My mom and stepdad are hardcore Democrats. He even canvassed for at least one Kennedy.

Voting shouldn’t be an option. People should get off their lazy asses and vote. People died so we could have this privilege today. If you don’t vote, you forfeit your right to complain.

I guess I can get off my soapbox, since these elections are over and the Liberals have been re-elected, but to a minority government.

The funny thing is, i know almost nothing about Canadian politics. I took an internet poll yesterday based on the issues and it came up that I should be voting conservative, which i did. I may have also voted Conservative because my husband had a huge blue Josh Cooper sign put up on our front lawn…

It’s kind of sad that I’ve lived in Toronto for the past 7 years and know so little about Canadian government. Next time I will be way more prepared.
