Getting my hair done. cut, colored, blown-dry, styled, what have you, has quickly become one of my most favorite things to do.
Think about it. I get to sit down for 3 hours. there is no screaming, no whining, no “but moooooommmmmmy”. There are magazines – good ones too. US weekly and People and Vogue. There’s the head massage.
and there’s the flattery. the good ole’ ego stroking. which i will NEVER say no to. “oh, Ali, you really have the best hair. it’s so soft and straight and it’s sooooo nice!” i mean, sure, i bet they say that to all the girls…but i don’t really care. i never feel as good about myself as i do when i go to the salon. seriously.
Justine (love her! she is a clone of Lucy Liu) decided to experiment to give me some volume. i laughed and told her to go ahead. she used about 35 round brushes, wrapped each piece of my hair in one, and left it there for about 20 minutes (medusa, much?)
if i had my camera – damnit, i really need my camera…the good news is that my brand new SD900 is returning with the husband from Atlanta on sunday! – i would have taken a picture. but, i swear, my hair looks like this:
