I’m pretty sure I’m doing Twitter wrong.

Much like the ever-so philosophical question about trees falling in the forest and no one being around to hear it…one could ask

If you tweet and no one responds to it…

…was it even awesome at all?

I think about this a lot. My Facebook discussions are usually pretty fantastic. People who don’t even know each other agreeing or disagreeing with my nonesense and/or my wit and/or my SUPER important discussions, like, well, whether or not it’s embarrassing that I just started watching Bones last week and I plowed through the first 13 episodes in mortifyingly record timing, but I don’t know, there’s something about this show that I am absolutely in love with.

Dad, I’m so sorry for making fun of your love of Bones for the last, um, 8 years.

I don’t know. My tweets fare way better on Facebook than on Twitter.

Maybe it’s because I don’t tweet inspirational quotes?

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to dig up all of my old wit on Twitter to recycle on Facebook. And maybe sign up for a Twitter class.

And if you are itching to read something REAL that I wrote, I am over here discussing my lukewarm feelings about The Hunger Games.

  1. Interesting… people are supposed to reply to your tweets? Then I am DEFINITELY doing it wrong.
Also, I don’t understand your tweet at all. 😉

  2. I can’t tell if you are being sarcastic about the replying? I’m pretty sure that’s what Twitter is about, isn’t it? The conversation?

I favorite tweets I like, I RT things I like, and I respond to tweets I like. Is that wrong?
    🙂

Obviously you don’t watch Mad Men. Hee!

  3. haha, no I’m not being sarcastic – hahahaha, I really dont *get* twitter after all!!!!!
And no, I don’t watch Mad Men… but after the facebook and twitter extravaganza about it last night, I just might start!!

  4. and p.s – Maybe I should started RT-ing, responding and favorite tweets and then maybe I would get more followers and *gasp* have a conversation!!

  5. What is twitter? 😉

  6. I like FB discussions better because you can see what other people are saying – with Twitter you’re just kind of shouting into the darkness.
And I did not think Mad Men hit it’s stride last night until Harry came on the scene – the 1st hour was painful, but the 2nd hour was like the glory days again.

  7. I REALLY think that’s why they needed the full two hours. Mad Men has ALWAYS been about the SLOW BUILD.

    I was really, really satisfied.

    🙂

  8. It was actually 2 episodes. So the first one will end with Megan on the balcony after the party. That will be a BORING episode.

I was just meh about the whole two hours.

Also, I don’t think I like Megan. I mean, more than Betty, but that song and dance made me horribly uncomfortable.

Oh! And no one was replying to Mad Men tweets last night.

  9. does it being two episodes make a difference? I’m so confused.

what will be a boring episode? confused again.

    Heh.

  10. You were saying something about the slow build. Which works when it is shown as 1 two-hour episode. But I don’t think it will work when this is 2 one-hour episodes. It was seamless for the premiere.

So the first hour, on it’s own, will be a boring episode.

  11. I think, personally, that Mad Men works on the slow build over, like, multiple episodes and seasons.

Remember when you didn’t like it in the beginning?

  12. I have yet to see Mad Men. Please don’t block my IP. However, Bones, I could watch marathon after marathon of that.

  13. I feel the same way about Twitter vs FB. My stuff always does so much better — as in, gets much more response — on FB than Twitter.

  14. I always seem to get better responses and conversations on facebook than on twitter, too. It is confusing.

Mad Men and Bones. Both shows I enjoy.

  15. I miss Mad Men. (Only limited cable now)

I think my tweet that got the biggest response was when I tweeted about thinking I had suddenly become alergic to onions. wtf indeed.
