1. trendy flavored martinis. the only person that is permitted to drink an appletini is JD on Scrubs.

2. Porsche Cayenne. if you’re going to drive a porsche, drive a porsche for god’s sake. unless you are Carmela Soprano.

3. Pomegranate juice

4. People’s 50 Most Beautiful People issue. because sometimes, they are just wrong. surely blythe danner is NOT one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world.

5. sliced bread. it’s really not all that exciting, when you think about it…

6. foreplay. great for dating. but after you’ve been married for ten years and have two three (thanks, Aimee!) kids and lots of shows to watch…who. has. time. ??

7. Rachael Ray

8. H&M. i was so excited when it came to Canada. but truth be told, it’s cheaply made and expensively priced. occasionally, i find something i like, but the store is so huge and overwhelming. i don’t like it.

9. poker. mostly, watching other people play poker. on tv.

10. Ugly Betty. the beginning was golden. love love love. i love her. i loved the campiness of the show. this season just can’t keep me. i’ve totally lost interest.

11. Crocs. y’all know how i feel about these.

12. The English Patient. the book. and the movie. i couldn’t get through either.

13. Posh and Becks. no one cares anymore. (but i did appreciate the beck underwear shots. mmm…)

what about you??? what do people love that you just. can’t. understand. ???

-
  1. Totally agree about most of these – especially H&M.
But, I LOVED the English Patient. (the book). I’ve read it about 3 times.
You know what I think is overrated? Holiday drinks from Starbucks and Second Cup. I mean, really, I love a good latte, and even a mocha sometimes. But, the flavoured drinks … bleck.
And, some people love the gingerbread so why only have it at Christmas (and then whine when profits are down).
I could think of so many!

  2. JD actually prefers nectarinis.. LOL.

And I think leggins are overrated (I know you like them, so I apologize in advance) but I think in two years, people will look back and be like “what in Sam Hell was I thinking?”

Comment by AndreAnna on December 6, 2007
  3. um, don’t you have THREE kids?

Comment by Aimee on December 6, 2007
  4. Appletinis are the REASON I don’t drink anymore…..!!!!

    Comment by Haley-O on December 6, 2007
  5. i think a whole lot of things are overrated…but i do love pomegranate juice.

Comment by LAVENDULA on December 6, 2007
  6. Oprah – sorry all you Oprah-fanatics!

I follow all the Hollywood Crap, but I just don’t get the world’s love affair with Posh & Becks either. He is pretty though…

Comment by Holly on December 6, 2007
  7. oops sorry back again foreplay is sometimes more fun than getting hortizontal/vertical whatever thrills you most….

Comment by LAVENDULA on December 6, 2007
  8. Crocs are so skank nasty! Much like Rachel Ray, I wish she would get over herself.

Comment by manda on December 6, 2007
  9. Starbucks – pricey, snooty, calorie-ridden drinks.

Grey’s Anatomy – I don’t get the appeal. Meredith is annoying; McDreamy… not so dreamy.

UGGS – seriously, they’re ugly and sloppy.

Comment by LoriD on December 6, 2007
  10. I’m with you on The English Patient. Never bothered with the book, but the movie bored me to tears.

Comment by JMC on December 6, 2007
  11. I love the three year-old photo of Celebrity Poker Showdown from Bravo…LOL. God, I can’t believe I used to recap that show.

Overrated…well, you got to Ugly Betty before I did so I’ll have to go with Mannheim Steamroller Christmas music. I hate that stuff.

Comment by Stacy on December 6, 2007
  12. Crocs are only the worst shoe ever in the world. Those and Uggs. Ack.

Comment by Kristie on December 6, 2007
  13. I am with you on all but H&M – still lovin’ it – not quite as much as when it first arrived but still. Wearing crocs is like tattooing “I’ve given up” on your forehead.

    2) Survivor
    3) Angelina Jolie

    6) Anne Rice
    7) Second Life
    8) Rachel Ray (wtf?)
    9) Bruce Springsteen
    10) Kevin Costner
    11) bratz

  15. I agree about H&M for sure. I would also have to say L.A. I just don’t get it. I’ve been there and really, it’s totally boring (yes, even the parties). New York I get.

My latest would be Facebook. I was into out but now I’m so done.

Comment by Jen on December 6, 2007
  16. If foreplay is outta favor, somebody(s) need a LONG vacation someplace nice, but then, who doesn’t? Don’t have any of the fancy places here, don’t miss’em. Never got the deal on Posh, TV poker, or most TV shows lately. Give me a Jag XK over Porsche anyday. They’re both tons of upkeep, but you can at least carry stuff in the Jag trunk. ‘TomCat’….wish they’d both just fade away, and take Brittany, Jessica, and Paris with’em.

Comment by Mike S on December 6, 2007
  17. I agree with you on many of these…Rachel Ray and Oprah, I just don’t get it? I will go one step beyond Posh and say Spice Girls comeback…Say What?!? I don’t get it???

Comment by Cynthia on December 6, 2007
  18. I bet I’ll receive hatemail for this, but I never really dug Friends or Seinfeld. I think I’m the only one in the entire world.

Also, I couldn’t agree more about Crocs. Blech.

Comment by Jennifer on December 6, 2007
  19. OK, I agree with you on every.single. one.

    Except?

Number 1. I happen to love appletinis 🙂

Comment by Angella on December 6, 2007
  20. harry potter and lord of the rings. don’t get the fascination.

Comment by Lara on December 6, 2007

  22. so I’m not the only one who feels that way about teh English Patient. Good to know

Comment by Kathryn on December 6, 2007
  23. I disagree with you profoundly on one of these things, but I’m too prudish to say which one.

Comment by Rebecca on December 6, 2007
  24. I agree about H and M. I’m also one who doesn’t watch Grey’s anymore. Meredith drove me crazy last season. I had enough.

  25. You got it. I agree. Oh and Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie. I just don’t get it? Why exactly are they so popular? Oh and skinny jeans:)

Comment by shay on December 7, 2007
  26. Crocs are deplorable fashion. I would never wear them, and I’d ban my kids from doing so.

Comment by beth on December 7, 2007
  27. Excellent! I have to say that although I’m not a fan of H&M’s adult clothes, I do love the kids’ stuff.

Comment by andi on December 7, 2007
  28. I didn’t see the People issue, but I’ve always thought Blythe Danner was one of the most beautiful women I’d ever set eyes on. (I’m trying to convince a friend of mine to name her daughter Blythe, actually.)

Comment by bubandpie on December 7, 2007
  29. I am totally with you on the foreplay thing. And I don’t even have kids! I couldn’t get through The English Patient, either, and I hate H&M b/c most of their stuff is either cheap or way too punk for me.

As for me – I can’t get why people were so obsessed with Superbad! Sure, the penis pictures made me giggle, but beyond that, I think it totally sucked.

Comment by Debbie on December 8, 2007
  30. Thanks for stopping by……and now I’ve discovered an awesome new blog right here. Ummm……finally! someone else who isn’t crazy about rachael ray. Also, the poker really gets on my nerves. I’ve never had pomegranate juice but it doesn’t sound so great.

Comment by Emily on December 8, 2007
  31. ha ha, loved this post.

Comment by Aimee Greeblemonkey on December 9, 2007
  32. I’ll be the first person to say The Tragically Hip. I know it’s highly unCanadian to say it, but they are bo-ring. IMO, their music is awful – with the exception of Road Apples when I’m really, really drunk!

Oh and I once went to a party where Appletinis were Allen’s Apple Juice and Vodka. I shit you not.

Comment by Chantal on December 9, 2007
  33. I used to bring an extra suitcase to New York, just so I could buy a year’s worth of clothes at H&M and tote them all home with me. Now I am hard pressed to find anything I’ll PICK UP, much less try on, purchase, and take home.

    H&M, you have failed me.

  34. […] last week we spoke about the things in life that are totally overrated. today i thought we could talk about those things that really are worth the hype. now, i’m sure there will be people who disagree and say…”ipods suck Ali…you can get a zune and it will do the exact same thing” and they might be right…but i love me some ipods (which is probably why i have..erm, 4). Sure there are tons more i could add…like…lululemons because oh. my. god. they are AMAZING. 1. Cheesecake Factory […]
