…because this is taking way too long and you are probably all already bored with this little game. shut up, y’all loved it when i first introduced it, 48 years ago. and if my camera wasn’t fucking broken, i’d have lots of pictures from my trip to show you instead. like my brand spanking new dress that made me look all kinds of smokin’ hot at the wedding.
4. while i consider myself an indie-rock fan, i can appreciate almost all types of music. opera. country. jazz. in fact, one of my all-time favorite songs is “He Went to Paris†by Jimmy Buffett.
this one is true.
my mom listens to showtunes…Hair, Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, Showboat, Guys and Dolls and the like. my stepdad listens to old stuff…Beatles, Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon and Garfunkel, Elton John, Billy Joel
my stepmom is all country baby….old stuff, new stuff. from sir Johnny Cash to Tim McGraw. my dad listens to books on tape. he. i actually haven’t a clue what he listens to. oldies, maybe? but i may have just made that up.
because my family’s musical taste was all over the place, so was mine. and it has definitely evolved over time. i mean, i was a huge NKOTB fan in sixth grade…i was heavy into alternative in high school – Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Green Day…then i hit a female-angst stage – Indigo Girls, Sarah mcLachlan…then it was a classic rock stage…and then i moved into where i am now…indie rock – Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Sufjan Stevens, Fall Out Boy, The Shins, New Pornographers.
I still take pleasure in all the music i grew up listening to – i still like some country, some oldies, some classic rock, some angry women, some alternative, some showtunes – and i love finding new music that no one’s heard of….like Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. i’m telling you…his song “Call Me Ishmael” is amazing.
5. i always leave the spare change in the washer until it adds up to more than a dollar. and then i take the money and buy coffee.
this one is false.
like i do laundry….he. no, seriously. this is one of the most fabulous perks of having a nanny. someone who does the laundry. actually, it’s having someone to put away the laundry that i really care about. i hope that Heidi’s collecting the spare change, though 🙂
congrats to SciFiDad, Laural, Sara, Haley-O, RLGelber, loren, AndreAnna, Sarah and Audrey for getting these both right. congrats to all the rest of you who are still reading…
