my internet is super slooooooooooooooooooooooooow. has been the entire weekend. which means i’ve been, well, unplugged. no work, no email, no blogs, nothing. it’s so frustrating when you are watching a movie (the break-up) with a friend (tova) and you and discussing the guy that dresses like a Jcrew model and you remember that he was on the show Jack and Jill and she knew that he was on Charmed, but you can’t remember his name. and you can’t look it up on imdb. these things kill me.
it’s a holiday weekend in Canada. Victoria Day. I’m not exactly sure what we are celebrating, which, i guess is sad, since i’ve lived here for 10 years….but, truthfully, all that really matters is that i don’t have to go to work today. yay. our weekend, like always, has been jam-packed so far. bbqs, birthday parties (between emily and josh, they have 5!), errrands, seeing shrek 3, moving our overgrown lawn, joshie had his first sleepover last night and since we didn’t have to go over at midnight to pick him up, we are assuming it was a success.
the plan today was to go to wonderland….but it’s a balmy end of may high of 16 degrees (for all you americans out there that’s roughly 60 degrees. read: not warm enough). so, we’re not sure if we are going to go. knowing us, we’ll all wear pants and sweatshirts and still go. we have passes. we always go. (update…husband went outside, ala Tony Soprano -which, ps, was amazing last night. i always end up being a spoiler, so i’m not going to spoil it for all you pvr’ers out there….but, AJ, brilliant last night – and said it’s nice enough to go. so, we’re going)
it’s only 8 in the morning. Isabella is screaming. (how dare i try to remove the pennies from her mouth?! seriously, she’s teething so badly these days…everything is going in her mouth) and Emily is bored. already. not really a surprise, since she came waltzing into my room at 5:30, asking for me to fix her ponytail. the husband is complaining about my mess in the room. like he’s my dad.
before i go, and pray that i can actually publish this post…since the internet has been iffy this morning. it took me about 45 tries to get the “Sweet Escape” video up for Emily on Youtube. what can i say…she listens to VERY different music than i do…i wanted to tell you something interesting.
part of my job is to track down photos to use in our books. i’m the kind of girl who knows how to get things. i can find museums in non-english speaking countries and somehow get them to send me photos. just recently, for a book we are doing on glaciers, i needed to track down a photo of the Otzi iceman. little did i know that i only had to look as far as Brad Pitt’s arm.
so, for all my Canadian friends, enjoy your holiday monday, and for all my American friends, he he. but don’t worry, you can rub it in next week when i’m working on memorial day.
