so last night i went to my first jeans party. i didn’t really know what to expect going in. was it going to be like a tupperware party? was i going to feel pressured to buy? how would something like this even work?
Ilana and Tova convinced me to come…and that it would be fun, even if it sucked. And, of course, they were right.
basically, when we walked in, there were about a dozen super tall, super skinny women walking around in awesome jeans. and then, off to the side, there were three Israeli women pushing the jeans. all the brands were represented…Rock and Republic, True Religion, Miss Sixty, Frankie B. They tried to get me try on “the skinny”, but we all know how i feel about those…
I actually did find a great pair of jeans. lifted my ass. sucked in my belly. i looked hot. i almost bought them too. almost. Ilana bought a shirt (since they weren’t selling any maternity jeans) and Tova bought her second ever pair of jeans (and they looked HOT on her). at $180 they were considered a steal, since Israeli woman #2 assured me that they’d be $350 in the stores.
what made my decision for me, you ask? well…i’ll tell you! A jeans party DOES in fact work the same way as a tupperware party. the more jeans they sell, the more perks and free things for the host, Michelle (i think that was her name…). lucky her. so…the way i figure, it was in her best interest to try to get me to buy something.
but she took no interest in me whatsoever. she didn’t ask me my name. or if i was looking for something. or recommend a pair of jeans that she loved. or check out the jeans i was considering. sure, i understand she was busy…but i wasn’t going to throw a big ole’ commission her way, if she didn’t even bother to try to get it.
so, she lost out. because i’ll be in the states over Christmas and will probably buy me an awesome pair of jeans…on sale…like i did last year.
check out my new baby!
it’s not really all that exciting of a phone. sure, it’s pink. and it takes pictures (humor me, i’m way, way behind the times when it comes to cell phones). this, my friends, is my very first cell phone that’s all mine. every other phone i’ve ever had in my life was a hand-me-down…either from my dad or from the husband. It is such a nice feeling. and she sure it pretty.
if you get a chance today, come on over and see me at Fabulous, and tell me how you found me!
