have you all heard the news about Britney Jamie Lynn Spears?? You might want to make a pit-stop over here today to check it out. it’s a big one, folks.

we are officially in duffle bag hell right now. My kids are great travelers. and by great, i mean ‘really, really beastly’. They scream, they whine, they cry, they are constantly hungry and the snacks i bring are never the right ones, they can’t agree on a movie, it’s a pleasure, really. So we, like geniuses, decided not only to fly to atlanta for our yearly family chrismukah festivities, we decided to save some money and DRIVE to Buffalo, spend the morning there, and then FLY on to the Atlanta. genius i tell you.

saving grace…

mmm…can you say homemade reese cups?? mmm….

and not to mention the spoilage…also known as ‘Grammy gives us ice cream for dinner’…

the cousins…

 (2005)

 (2006)

and this years’ 2007 picture will include a new addition to the family, my niece who i’ve yet to meet, Evangeline.

seeing my sister…who i so rarely get to see…

and have a mentioned the loot?

DSCN0232

i’m looking forward to my time off from work…things have been crazy lately between trying to find a read-aloud (still) that’s for grade 5 and multicultural and is action-based and has a male protagonist, and is pretty recent, but isn’t too well-known (i’m taking recommendations, if anyone should have any)…and finding obscure pictures in strange places…i still have a million things to get done before Christmas…and i’m sure my nanny is looking forward to having the next couple weeks off (AND she’s so graciously agreed to housesit for us. she’s awesome)

don’t worry…i’ll be posting from Atlanta…both here and on Juice.

wish us luck! (we are gonna need it)

Enjoy the spoilage. Maybe you’ll get another iPod or Coach purse?

  4. The drive to Buffalo isn’t too bad. You almost drive right past my door 🙂
And – the Buffalo airport is way calmer than Pearson so in the end you’ll be happy. I suggest investing in gravol and earplugs.
But, it sounds like a fun trip once you get there.

  5. That Spears story, can’t even comment because I start and a little vomit arrives in my mouth. Great role models is all I can muster.

However those cups and those children, edible in two entirely different ways.

  6. The Spears mom must be SO PROUD righ now…
My kids travel like yours, but they also add throwing up every five minutes into the mix. It’s a jolly vomitapalooza! So we don’t go ANYWHERE.

  18. It’s been a while and holy moly, that’s a lot of chocolatey goodness! Maybe you should send some to JL Spears to cheer her up. 🙂

  19. I agree with the driving part-way part. Then it’s just you and your family, so you can scream at them, make horrific sounding threats, etc. When you are flying you have to try to sound all good-motherish and make those faces that clearly tell the other passengers that they are NEVER like this!

I think your husband must have read that thing about marrying a girl whose Mom is still gorgeous…because yours is…so you will age well!!!

Your sister looks a little like a young Kyra Sedgwick…the Kyra I like, not the one who irritates me because of the bad southern accent.

  20. Ok .. i have another question about the Reese’s (besides asking again pretty please for the recipe ..please Ali’s mommy??!!)
Just how MANY people eat all of those? There are enough for a small army!

Comment by Sarah on December 20, 2007
  21. OMG. That first picture is amazing… We don’t get pb cups over here in New Zealand very easily, but when we do… MMmm

Comment by Leaf, probably... on December 20, 2007
  22. […] Breakfasts are big, lunches are big, and dinners are big. add about 45 pounds of Carnegie Deli cheesecake, some pumpkin pie and some reese cups, and well, are you starting to get the idea? Southerners don’t know how to eat light. it starts with biscuits and gravy and eggs and pancakes and all the fixin’s….and end with a nightly run to starbucks for a latte. it never ever stops. […]
