Our phone is slightly possessed and gives us a little double ring when it’s a long distance or a telemarketing call. i appreciate this, actually. if it’s an area code i don’t recognize, i don’t pick up.
because i have issues. i can’t just hang up. and i can’t just jump in mid-scripted-shpiel and cut them off at the pass. oh no, i have to listen to them rant about my free geoholiday vacation or how i really do need my air ducts checked and oh, it’s very important that i subscribe to the Toronto Star. I let them get to the end of their rant, and then hang up. i told you i have issues.
so, last night the husband picks up the 604 phone call, even though i knew it was no one that we knew, but he insisted and when they asked for me, he told them i wasn’t there. she called back a second time and said she was from Canada Immigration. fuck. these are NOT the type of people that you want to start messing with. have you ever seen a canadian immigration officer? hearts made of stone, i tell you.
so, she was already suspicious. and she was calling to tell me that my nanny was waiting, in Vancouver, to be picked up. um, hello? excuse me? my nanny is downstairs, thankyouverymuch.
apparently, the nannywhore Rakela, who totally screwed me over when i got nanny poached, has been using MY name to bring nannies into Canada. i know, right? what. the. fuck.
so, i ranted. to this poor immigration officer. i told her all about Rakela and how she skipped town when my nanny walked out on me and left me in the lurch. i ranted about how Rakela is a total pimp. and she’s definitely doing something shady.
and so, when i got off the phone, you know that immigration officer is writing on her blog… fuck. these are NOT the type of moms that you want to start messing with. have you ever seen a canadian mom? hearts made of stone, i tell you.
ahaha. Jesus, they should give me a badge or something…
he was too young. and i am a little bit broken today.
i want to thank you for all of your book suggestions. as per many of your recommendations, I started reading Atonement last night. I figure before i fall in love with Jodi Picoult, i better get a jump start on the book version of Atonement before i watch the movie version, which has to be done before the Oscars. you see, it’s all very thought out…
