newsflash: i am a bitch strongly opinionated.

this probably won’t be new to many of you. i have strong opinions about many things. music, food, clothing, tv shows, movies.

(on my NOT list: Drew Barrymore. fruity martinis. Fergie. celebrity poker. crocs. Rachael Ray. the zoo. indoor swimming. wet cat food. rhianna. fruit in dessert.)

sometimes i let things slide because i love you…i mean, that’s why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors, right? not everyone likes the same thing. and i’m learning that this is okay. i mean, come one, not everyone likes Twilight. 🙂

sometimes i silently judge you. and sometimes i email some people to bitch to. (and if you are thinking that i’m bitching about you, i’m most likely not. i’m most likely bitching about the dudes who befriend me on flickr who seem like totally normal fathers who take pictures of their cute kids and then you click over to the second page of their photos and find their hairy naked bath self portraits and then you die right there on the spot.) (or if you are judging me for being a McMom)

sometimes i’m just mean…

seeyouagain

sometimes i say things like “oh my god, i can’t believe anyone could listen to the new Britney Spears album!” in a meeting full of co-workers when one of them had just admitted to buying it and loving it. (please note: ali has yet to learn how to be tactful in social situations.)

but sometimes, say, when it’s your CHILD, when it’s the fruit of your loins, there’s nothing to do but throw up your hands, wonder where you went wrong, and, of course, videotape it.

my daughter, love of my life, loves Mamma Mia.

ABBA.

ABBA!

what? has she learned nothing from me??? where’s the nature? where’s the nurture? she loves Abba so much that she’s GOING TO BE IN THE PLAY IN THE SPRING. she made me download the movie for her, which i had to do twice, because the first time i downloaded it in CHINESE.

(now before y’all start unsubscribing, like a certain, um, impy, note that a lot of my best friends LOVE Abba and Mamma Mia. and i still love them. Diff’rent Strokes, kids, Diff’rent Strokes…which, incidentally, is a fantastic show. but you might not like it. and i’m totally okay with that. really, i am. but, really, you should download it, because it is made of awesome.)

karma is a bitch, yo!

  1. That video is just too adorable- and she’s sooo into it! And your littlest one in the background joining in- too cute!

  2. Awww…you’re one of my best friends too, babe. We are twins, after all.

Except for ABBA. I don’t plan on seeing the Mamma Mia, but I do like the song.

Also. DYING from the cuteness of that video. DYING!!!

  6. I totally empathize with the bitchiness and sticking your foot in your mouth due to tactlessness. It’s what my whole blog is basically about. 🙂

Even though Mama Mia is not my cup of tea, your daughter is just wonderful in the video. The girl has skillz!

  7. I know a part of you died inside when I added Fergie to my favourite music on Facebook, but I have more to tell you. I also like Abba and just downloaded Circus.

    I know I suck, but I can’t help it.

  8. If it makes you feel better at least she’s adorable while mocking you?

  9. That video is awesome. She has some moves! And at least she’s not busting out some dirty gangsta moves or anything. Yeah, “gangsta!”

  10. OH! I almost forgot. When we played Apples to Apples the other day (with names instead of the red cards), I won for the category “Mean.” You are not alone.

  13. GIVE ME THOSE GIRLS!!! I will trade you two slightly jaded, non-ABBA loving boys. Oh, and here’s another bargaining chip (you better sit down):

    I own every ABBA album.

    Vinyl, baby!

What’s that? You don’t want to give me your daughters? Well…if you change your mind, I’m the first in line…

  14. That video! The cuteness! It hurts it is so cute! I love when Isabella comes in to dance along!

You clearly must love me because I love the Britney album, I have that Miley Cyrus song on my iPod and you’ve already mocked me for my top 10 movies! And yet you still talk to me! I feel honored!

Also, I may have over 5 Fergie songs on my iPod as well. But I do HATE fruit in dessert.

  22. Dave recently downloaded a movie for the kids…we were watching it and the credits came up in Russian and then about a third of the way through the movie it turned in to Russian for about five minutes – then flipped back to English. LOL!

  30. I am a closet fan of the new Britney album. Yah.. i suck.. but at least I admit my awful taste in music sometimes.. and now I will have Abba stuck in my head for the rest of the week.. sigh.

PS.. your daughter is the cutness..

  31. I swear the hairy guy in the tub was NOT me.

Comment by Matthew on December 18, 2008
  32. I was SO that younger sister, trying to copy her older sister in a cool dance. But I remember it being a song from Styx or Jefferson Airplane…

    I LOVED her dancing. Awesome.

And. I dare say. I love ABBA. Gotta love Swedish rock stars…

Comment by tracey on December 18, 2008
  33. She dances so well! And I do like ABBA. I’m sorry. I also like Britney Spears. Can we still be friends? 🙂

Comment by Courtney on December 19, 2008
  34. We have very similar “NOT” lists, sans the indoor swimming and Fergie Ferg. But you forgot fanatical religious groups and watching/hearing someone eat sunflower seeds!

Comment by Bethy on December 19, 2008
  35. She kills me. KILLS me. But I must admit I could not stand the movie (Pierce Brosnan should not be allowed to sing. EVER.).

Also, I must ‘fess up: I adore Drew, Rihanna AND Fergie. Finally, something we are not identical in, ha.
