August 6 07

It’s a long weekend in Canada today – there’s no real reason for it, i believe, just to give us a day off in August (but you don’t see me complaining) and we are likely going to Canada’s Wonderland for the second day in a row, even though i’m sportin’ a really lovely sunburn. (yes, i was wearing sunscreen. no, it didn’t seem to take….)

yesterday we did the water park and today we’ll do the regular park.

have a GREAT day. i know i will.

on Saturday the husband and i got the brilliant idea that three days off of work was the perfect time to toilet train Isabella. you see, we had a window. she was doing GREAT. lovin’ the toilet. so, off came her diapers. we said “bye-bye diapers” on Saturday morning. She and i had a morning alone – with only one accident. not too bad, i thought. going from 8-12 and only peeing on the kitchen floor once was pretty good. so, we braved the storm and took her on a walk to my inlaws. a thirty minute walk. paranoid as hell, i asked her if she needed to pee, um, oh, just about every 3 minutes. she said no. and she was GREAT. no accidents.

we walked into my inlaws. i took her straight to the toilet. “no pee pee mommy. i done! i wipe myself!”

okay, fine. i sat down, put her on my lap, and began to take off her shoes.

and wouldn’t you know…

Niagara Falls.

right on my lap.

sweet jeebus.

we’ve said hello to diapers again. at least for the time being.

  1. Awww…poor Isabella (and you) but she seems well on her way. It’s extra hard when it’s hot outside and she’s probably drinking more and probably needing to go more and then…

  2. Ahhh…toilet training. I know nothing about it, but don’t envy you. But then again, once she’s done, you’ll be done with diapers!!

We’ve been lucky so far – The Happy Boy decided on his own that he wanted underwear, and we were done with diapers. I just KNOW my second boy won’t do that!!

  3. Ouch, that’s gotta hurt! I had noticed littleG getting red after I slathered her with SPF45 lifebrand; don’t know if that was what you were using.
Toilet training, yes, feel your pain. Our process is off and on just because I can’t stay committed. Those dang diapers are just too convenient when you’re out and about.
I know what you mean about Simcoe day – but a holiday where grocery, LCBO and beer stores are open is FINE by me LOL!

  5. Oh, GOOD! ‘Cuz I’d be SO jealous if Bella was toilet trained ALREADY! 😉

I would LOVE to go to wonderland today — but WAY too hot for my big bawd right now, obv.

  6. Aw, the lap pee. I know it well. Good luck – I’m sure she’ll catch on quickly.

  7. agg! I’m working on the potty training right now… but Ezra FUH-REAKS out when I try to put ‘big boy undies’ on him. How do you potty train without UNDERWEAR, I ask? HOW?!!?

    hehe.

  8. We were so excited when our little one started showing serious interest in potty training recently. We went out and bought a potty seat and “big girl panties”. There was a lot of success and few accidents at first. A few days later her interest waned and we were back in diapers.

  9. I am terrified to say no to diapers still. You are my hero. I’m tempted to say “don’t worry you’ll get there,” but honestly, I have no clue.

  10. Ack! What’s up with the sunburn, yo?

And rock on with the toilet training! When they are ready, they zoom, I tell ya!

  11. The sunburn looks painful!

Potty training. Haven’t reached that point yet with Tim. How old is Isabella?

  12. The Wonderland adventures looked fun – a great day out for everyone, I’m sure.

I’m totally sitting on the fence about potty training my son – now almost 2.5. He is not overly interested and doesn’t want to even be naked these days so I’m procrastinating, hoping that one day I’ll just wake up and he’ll be potty trained. I have low expectations after the ups and downs of potty training my daughter last year.
