yesterday, Tova came to pick me up for lunch. she recently started working this.close.to.me. so it only seemed right. she came up to see my cube – which is full of nothing but books from floor to ceiling. ask her. it’s not a joke. oh, also there’s this scary mask that i had to order for a photo shoot we are doing…
(yes, it IS every bit as creepy as it looks. my job is awesome.)
and she got to see how we put the ‘school’ in ‘ [insert company name here]’ around these parts. she’s right. my office is like a high school. we have lockers, people. lockers! (and mine has this extra fancy horse sticker that i can’t seem to take off…) and the cafeteria dynamics of who sits with who. and there are hacky-sackers. even the gossip around here is like high school…”did you hear that x is sleeping with y in the sick room?” yes, that’s right, we have a sick room. and a YEARBOOK. we have a yearbook.
an entire book filled with pictures like these. and yes, that’s me in the picture above. and yes, if you are following my Working Closet group on flickr, you will notice laugh that i wore that exact. same. outfit. on tuesday.
yes, it’s high school. but i kind of love it.
it’s getting to relive high school. except i get paid to do it. and there are no tests. (unless you count the email ‘who should you vote for in the next US election’ that went around. in case you are wondering, it put me at Barack Obama, 74%) oh, and there’s no detention for wearing skirts that are too short. because, just like my actual high school, i would be spending a lot of time there.
case in point…me, circa yesterday:
(you are so loving the stripey knee-highs. i know)
oh, and I’m fairly certain we don’t have a water club…but i wouldn’t put it past us…
what’s your office like?
