I don’t claim to be a master in the kitchen. (A master chef, if you will). I can hold my own, and I make a mean b├ęchamel sauce. Mostly, though, my positive culinary experiences are due to the result of good timing, a good sense of humor, and good adaptability skills. And a whole heaping tablespoon of luck.

(See what I did there?)

Interestingly, my first pancake is always a winner.

No really. You can ask my kids.

Kids are like pancakes, they* say though, the first one’s always a throwaway.

It seems that my parenting skills, like my cooking skills, are also the result of good timing, a sense of humor, and good adaptability skills. AND LUCK.

Because my first kid? Not really much of a throwaway.

In fact, she’s pretty freaking awesome, and not just because she’s cleans my baseboards whenever she has parties.

But how is it that when I wake up tomorrow morning (to take my firstborn to get her G1) I will be the mama of a SIXTEEN-year-old person?

  2. Sixteen is one of those freaky ages that just sneaks right up on you. They start to either hate you for “ruining their lives” or become your best friend in a whole new way. Usually a mix of both. From the sounds of it your in for a fair bit of the latter though. :)
