I moved into my new home this weekend.

MY HOME!

Everything went really smoothly, except for Bell deciding to just not show up to install our phone/internet/tv during the 6-hour window that they had given us and now they won’t be coming until tomorrow (maybe…eeep!) and they did offer us a $35 for our pain and suffering but my lovely husband told them to keep their lousy hush money and shove it where the internet doesn’t shine, which, apparently, is my house right now (I would have taken the $35 dollars and bought 7 cold brew iced coffees, but no one asked me) where I can’t work from my lovely home office and/or finish season 2 of Masters of Sex which has been holymoly knocking it out of the park this season. I’ll let you decide which one takes priority for me.

*You are not my friend, BELL*

You know, as always when you buy someone else’s home, there are little surprises along the way.

The good kind: Wow! there’s more kitchen cabinet space than my last kitchen how do I have empty shelves!

And the bad kind: There’s not quite enough light in this bathroom so I might look like I put my face on with a makeup gun today.

Our basement couch didn’t fit down the basement (don’t ask) so it’s resting comfortably in our bedroom and we kind of like it up there so we will probably recover it and huzzah! we have a bedroom sitting room! Our family room couches aren’t great in our family room so they are probably going to go down to the basement, and we will just be FORCED to get new couches for the family room. There’s currently no full-length mirror in the house so last night I went out in a skirt that I didn’t realize was shorter than I had hoped. The bathrooms are hotel-like and sublime, I had to drag Josh out of the shower at the 29-minute mark last night. (Unexpected bonus: clean children!) Right now we are rocking a Home Depot Box motif throughout the house and have half-opened boxes everywhere when I attempted to pack Isabella up for sleepover camp (She went this morning, with a spring in her step and a smile on her face, albeit a mishmash of clothes and bedding and shoes…no hesitation from that little nugget.)

We are in negotiations with each other about decks and wainscoting and molding and a new headboard and closet organization and paint colors and where to put the spices.

But for now, we dance.
