March 1 13

She’s a pro at the bedtime stalling tactics, really. I have heard it all.

Can you read me one more story?

Wait, just one more story.

And now I need a new book for me to read. But not that one. Or that one. Or that one. Or anything you read when you were little—no Ramona OH MY GOD. Something new and original.

THE CLOSET! CLOSE THE CLOSET DOOR!

I need a drink; my lips are super dry.

Maybe chapstick is better. Hrm.

I don’t like the orange cup.

I don’t like the green cup.

Or the blue one.

Can you do the spider check?

Snuggles can’t do to sleep without kisses. But make sure they are not the wet kind, Mama. He doesn’t like those.

GAH YOU GAVE HIM WET KISSES NOW WE NEED TO WASH AND DRY HIS FACE!

I am cold, I need a hoodie.

Mommy….so…..um……tomorrow…..in…….my……lunch…..

I need my white blanket first, then my pink blanket, then the red one.

I need to pee.

Now I need you to put my white blanket on first, then my pink one, then the red one.

Where’s Baby Lexi? I can’t sleep without her!

Oh! I remember. She’s downstairs.

Now I need you to put my white blanket on first, then my pink one, then the red one.

Wait. My legs are cold. My pants keep riding up. MOMMY, I ABSOLUTELY NEED TO WEAR WHITE KNEE-HIS TO BED OR I CAN’T POSSIBLY SLEEP.

Can I have one more story?

Can I have my math book?

Oh wait! You didn’t sign something that you absolutely need to sign rightthisverysecond.

Can you do the spider check again?

I need you to fix my pencil.

I need another drink.

OH NO! I spilled my water all over my shirt.

I need a new shirt.

And now I need to change my pants because they don’t match my shirt anymore.

Now I need you to put my white blanket on first, then my pink one, then the red one.

Can I just show you what I just drew? PLEASE! I worked so hard on it. It might be my best one yet! People might even want to BUY it.

Isabella Disney World

But last night.
Last night, you guys.

Hey, Mama, I really, really want to help you fold the laundry and put it all away.

…and it took everything in my too-tired-from-all-of-the-laundry-folding power to stand my ground and not allow her to get out of her bed to do the laundry.
SHE’S GOOD.

  5. I can’t tell you how similar this is to the bedtime routine of my 6 year old. Except he now adds that his head is hurting.
