November 21 12

If you know me, you know that I tend to choose Facebook over Twitter and I’ll usually tell you that it’s because even though Facebook likes to choose my friends for me and decide on my behalf which of my friends are allowed to see my updates (seriously, Facebook, stop that. My Ireland pictures were awesome and no one even saw them. Pity, that.)

I like Facebook better because I can do Facebook right and I am clearly doing Twitter wrong.

Which is a funny thing, really, because is there actually a right way to use Twitter? I mean, I know there are things on it that I find irritating (See: foursquare updates)(See: inspirational quotes) and I know that sometimes I’m not the best Twitter citizen (I’m trying to share more content written by people who have a way with words, I’m really trying) but is there actually a way to use it wrong?

And then I got to thinking that maybe I’m not actually using it wrong—maybe I’m just not as funny as I think I am.

Or maybe people just aren’t watching the funnyslashawkward The Mindy Project.

No?

No one?

Beyonce Pad Thai? Leslie Knope Movie Popcorn?

The Mindy Project Warrior Name Beyonce Pad Thai

No?

Don’t leave me hanging here. No one is watching this show? I mean, I can’t not watch this show, especially since I tend to fancy myself funnyslashawkward as well.

Well, you are probably the same people who have never watched Parks and Recreation, which mostly just makes me sad.

Are you also not watching Nashville?

Or Homeland?

HAVE YOU NO SOUL?!

  1. I am loving The Mindy Project. High five, Leslie Knope Movie Popcorn.

  2. HIGH FIVE!

(now, obviously, you need a warrior name of your own.)

  3. My problem with The Mindy Project is that the teeter totter between funny and awkward tips too far to the awkward side (which is a shame because I think Mindy Kaling is one of the funniest people in the world). However, you know I’m loving Nashville…the music, the sequin, the twang, the lustful looks. That show is gold.

Comment by Jennifer on November 21, 2012
  4. Have you watched all the episodes? I really feel like it’s hitting it’s stride…just the right amount of awkward.

Comment by ali on November 21, 2012
  5. No, I only watched the first two. I’ll have to give it another try.

Comment by Jennifer on November 21, 2012
  6. I really think you should. Comedies are tough in the beginning…sometimes it takes a few to really get great. Parks and Rec almost took an entire first season to hit its stride.

  7. I love The Mindy Project and I’m also hooked on Homeland.

I actually know people who haven’t heard of Parks and Recreation. I’m reconsidering those friendships.

Comment by Danielle on November 21, 2012
  8. I have about 5 Mindy Projects waiting for me on my TiVo. And you KNOW I share your love of PR& and Homeland.

Comment by Angie [A Whole Lot of Nothing] on November 21, 2012
  9. But you don’t like Nashville.
    SO.

    hahahah/

  10. Shamefully, I have to admit that the man and I are glued to NASHVILLE, save last week when NEITHER of us saw it and are both up in arms about the situ.

Homeland has flew under our radar as an option, though I think about the show, and the fact hat we never think about that one, every time you mention the Clair Danes cryface(Damn!). I saw last weeks Mindy Project and LOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDD it. Seriously.

Have given warrior name some thought, and can only come up with “Melissa McCarthy Chocolate Pudding” using the formula. Now, I do not know about you, but I hardly think that this is going to invoke intimidation.

  11. There is nothing shameful. Nothing.

Also, yes. Watch Homeland. It’s brilliant.

Comment by ali on November 21, 2012
  12. Watching all three. Funny-awkward is always a good thing. Always. Girls is also one of my top picks for that.

I like Nashville a lot (any musical show, really), but the fact that people are watching that and not Homeland hurts me. Homeland is a MUST.

Comment by Alyssa on November 21, 2012
  13. As I already told you on Twitter. Love all of these shows or cant’ wait to watch (Nashville). I also sometimes I think I post something brilliant on Twitter and…. no response!
I think sometimes people read them, grunt in appreciation or agreement and then move on (at least I hope so).

  14. Watching The Mindy Project & Nashville. Haven’t started Homeland yet, and really want to watch Breaking Bad. And Stephen Amell’s season of Hung.

The key here is that you’re way better at remembering the TV show references. So it’s not that you’re doing it wrong, it’s that you’re just smarter than the rest of us. If you explain how to get my warrior name i will do it. For you.

  15. I see what you did there. And I like it.

    Breaking Bad is AWESOME.

Comment by ali on November 21, 2012
  16. Never seen it. Sorry dude.

I AM watching Nashville though. I love it. Possibly too much. I’m terrified that since I love it, it will be canceled.

Comment by Issa on November 21, 2012
  17. It’s one of my superpowers, I believe.

Shows I like get canceled. See: Pan Am.

Comment by ali on November 21, 2012
  18. Mine too. See: Off the Map.

Comment by Issa on November 21, 2012
  19. Dammit. I watched that too.

Comment by ali on November 21, 2012
  20. This is bad. Ha.

Although…Nashville did get picked up for the full season. So I have hope.

Comment by Issa on November 21, 2012
  21. Where do I find this Nashville business? Do I hear you speaking of a cover of a Civil Wars song? That makes it worth my while. I’m watching Mindy Project. I did an undergrad in Biomedical Science and then a graduate degree in Anatomy. Those are my peeps. I’m fluent in funnyslashawkward.

Comment by Louise on November 21, 2012
  22. YES! Worth your while. 1000000%
it’s so good, and not just because Connie Britton has the BEST head of hair.

Comment by ali on November 21, 2012
  23. I’d love to watch all of the above, but I honestly have no time. Not that you do, either, but you’re more of a night owl than I am. 😉

Comment by Angella on November 21, 2012
  24. I watch! I watch The Mindy Project (although I’m finding it less funny lately) and Parks and Rec. LOVE Leslie!! I saw your tweet, too, and got it. I just suck and didn’t retweet. I’m new to this tweet world, and I don’t know all the “right” things to do yet!

Comment by Tammy on November 22, 2012
  25. Oh the Mindy Project makes me laugh. Super funnyslashawkward which, hello, story of my life.

Comment by Amy on November 24, 2012
  26. I have not seen it! But I will be watching now! I can’t believe I forgot about that show!

But Nashville? LOVE! I have downloaded like 7 of the songs and listen to them on repeat.

Comment by Kristabella on November 27, 2012
  27. Ooooh! Which songs are your favorites???

Comment by ali on November 27, 2012
  28. No One Will Ever Love You (Rayna and Deacon)
Fade Into You (Scarlett and Gunnar)
    Undermine (Hayden and Deacon)
If I Didn’t Know Better (Scarlett and Gunnar)
Telescope – the Hayden version I don’t like, but I like the version Rayna’s kids did at the talent show.

Also, I can never remember Hayden’s character’s name. And Rayna is always Tami Taylor.

Comment by Kristabella on November 27, 2012
  29. So. you may have missed (how dare you!) when I was going on and on about If I didn’t Know Better on Facebook. It’s originally sung by The Civil Wars and you can download that entire album for free on their site. SO GOOD.
