March 29 12

The top drawer of my nightstand holds all the small things—pens, old ipods, Tic Tac containers, buttons, keys, old glasses, school supplies, TUMS. Because we only have four drawers in our kitchen (seriously. FOUR), it’s what one might refer to as a junk drawer.

Me: Josh, what what what?

Josh: Mama, what is this, um, vibrating thing?

Me: *blink* *blink* *blink*

Josh: I’m taking it apart.

Me: I can see that.

Josh: What IS it?

Me: Give me that. Thanks for breaking my toy.

Josh: SHRUGS

Perhaps—on further thinking—the junk drawer is not the most appropriate place for a (now dismantled) pocket rocket.

  1. I have a junk pile in my second bedroom that has grown so large, I moved it to a bag. I only have 2 drawers in the house, in the kitchen.

  2. Is a pocket rocket what I think it is? I know, I’m a little naive.

  3. Well. Because I don’t have a nightstand I don’t have anything like that in my drawers. BUT, because I will have a nightstand soon, I now know what *not* to keep in it. Thank you.

Also, I can’t imagine only having 4 drawers in a kitchen. That’s ridiculous.

  4. I’m sorry he broke your toy. Maybe a nice padded case for the next one.

  5. This is one of my biggest fears. I just keep envisioning a “Parenthood” moment where Emberly finds one of my toys and brings it out in front of everyone during Christmas dinner or some crap.
I have no better hiding spot, at the moment, than under my bed. She’s been playing around in our room a little too much for my comfort.
I need to find something with a hidden compartment. A BIG hidden compartment 😀

  6. Ha! That scene in Parenthood.

    “Mommy what was that?”
    “It was an electric…ear cleaner!”
    “It was kind of big.”
    “IT SURE WAS!”

    ahahah

  10. Hahaha! OMG. I have one in a reachable drawer that I’m now going to MOVE as soon as I get home, the others are high, out of reach. I am just waiting for the day my grandmother decides to organize the drawers in our bedroom and stubmles upon them… oh dear.

  11. Hahah. Does your grandmother often organize your drawers?

(if you does, do you lend her out?)

  13. Ha! My kids have found my stash, but luckily it was before they were old enough to think anything about it. This is a good reminder for me to at least pile some things on top of it.

  14. HAHA!

Also, how many iphones you got stashed in there? You could open your own Apple store!

  15. One is my US phone, which I use when I travel.

The others are old ipod touches. It’s where the oldschool ipods go to die.
