So, I sort of have been, um, a little anti-cape and anti-poncho for a while now.

I don’t even know what it is about them, actually. Maybe I am just a fan of sleeves?

But, then, you guys. I was at the mall this week (YES I WAS) and one of my favorite stores was having a 50% off the entire store sale and so even though I was at the mall for a specific purpose, I managed to make a Jacob pitstop and I managed to fall in love with this sweater. On the hanger, it didn’t look remotely un-sweaterlike and so I took advantage of the ridiculous discount (take that, Gap and your 40% off. There’s a new bargain in town!) and bought it. And then I brought it home.

And I thought…

Maybe it’s not a sweater?

Maybe it’s a gasp! cape?

There are only two possible answers to to this dilemma.

Answer A: That is SO not a cape, Ali! That thing clearly has sleeves that you put your arms through! Sure, it’s a little drapey, but it’s definitely not a cape and therefore you are not required to eat your words. But maybe you are a superhero anyway…Batman, perhaps?

Answer B: That is 100% a cape, Ali! You are kind of, sort of a liar…but it’s okay, because that sweatercape looks totally awesome on you. OWN IT, woman and don’t forget to tell us what crime you are fighting and if you need an extra pair of tights.

So..what say you?

A or B

  2. It looks good on you so that’s all that matters, right? (ps- it’s a cape)

  3. Might I suggest Option C? I believe this is what would be classified as a poncho. Close cousin of the cape, but with sleeves, as you have pointed out.

  4. See? I TOLD you capes were awesome, yo… xox

  5. I believe what you have there is a poncho & cape hybrid. It has an opening for your arms which is a characteristic of a cape, but it doesn’t open in the front which makes it more like a poncho. Interesting… Just focus on the fact that it looks great on you and it’s a fab colour. 🙂

  10. I’m thinking poncho. HOWEVER. It is a beautiful colour and has a really flattering neckline, so it’s okay.

  16. Number one, that’s a gorgeous color!
Number two, If it has any kind of sleeve at all, even if it’s a tiny spot sewed together, it’s not a cape. IMO.
    I kind of like it.
