At about 4:45pm today, I realized four very important things.

Thing #1: I have bought exactly 1.5 holiday gifts. I can only count the burnt sugar crumbly fudge as half of a gift because I ate through the entire bag before I even walked out of Indigo. Actually, scratch that. I have only bought one gift. It’s a good gift. One that my sister-in-law is really going to like. But still. I am a gift-buying fail.

Thing #2: I had 4 cups of tea today, but not one cup of coffee, which pretty much explains the headache I now have at 8:00. It may also be the fact that Isabella is watching The Mysterious Ticking Noise on repeat. So now I will probably have another coffee, especially now that I have trained my son how to use the keurig and how much milk and splenda I take in my coffee (hooray for slavery!), and then I will probably be up all night. Which perhaps I should consider a blessing—I can use the time to online shop my face off.

Thing #3: Not having a commute may be the most amazing thing to ever happen to me ever.

Thing #4: I really want bangs again. Stop it, stupid Glee promos and the lovely fringe on Rachel Berry, bangs are always a mistake unless you have hair people.

Oh! But now I have something to add to my Chrismukah wish list that now includes Jon Hamm, dance lessons, and a pair of UGG boots.

But there’s logic here. If someone else buys the UGGs FOR ME, it would truly embarrass the gift-giver if I were to, say, let the poor ugly boots sit in the box or sell them on ebay like I usually do with the gifts I don’t like. So I would have to wear them, you see. Logic.

So now we add hair people to the list. Because I really need me some of those.

And some more burnt sugar crumbly fudge.

Because Jesus, those were delicious.

  1. I’ve decided that my 2012 project will be taking over Christmas shopping for people. I LOVE it, and the only reason I stop shopping is because I run out of money. And, if I were making a never-gonna-happen Christmas list, hair people would be at the top of that sucker.

  2. OMG, funny enough, the only thing I asked for this Christmas was a pair of cable knit Uggs! What are we, back in 2002?!? ;-)

  3. Bangs are the best thing that ever happened to my hair. Also cutting in layers by myself. My hairdresser is so going to kill me.

  4. You told me to grow my bangs out, therefore don’t get bangs. Because you will complain every day.

I decided to get some good boots this winter. But I went with some snow boots by Keen, since I need my feet to be warm and dry, and Uggs aren’t waterproof.

  5. I have the same problem with Christmas presents. Except then I finally think of something and BAM I’ve spent a bajillion dollars and my shopping is all done. As for the bangs, I love having bangs. I’ve had them for years and while I do have cooperative hair, I find that the hairdresser has to be amazing and cut them perfectly for me to not need hair people. Therefore, I have to make a ridiculous commute to the only salon I know can handle my hair and I end up spending 6 months with my hair completely grown out before I’ll drag myself back for another cut. And I would LOVE a pair of Uggs. I would probably sleep in them.

  6. My bangs right now look almost exactly like Rachel’s do in that photo, except I cut mine myself and I did so because of those annoying awkward fuzzy too-short-bang-like hairs that show up when your hair is growing back after you lost it all after you had a baby.

Was that a run-on sentence? Maybe that wouldn’t happen if the previously-mentioned baby would SLEEP once in a while.

    ps. I love Indigo.
