It’s poutine. And Timbits. And butter tarts. And Smarties. And Coffee Crisp. And Wunderbars. And smoked meat. And Montreal bagels. And Kraft Dinner. And Beavertails.

It’s Jacob. And Shoppers Drug Mart. And RW&Co. And Canadian Tire. And The Bay. And The Beer Store. And Lululemon. And Roots. And Winners.

It’s EH? And pass-ta. And baggle. And sore-ey. And laboUr and favoUrite. And zed.

It’s going to the cottage. And the washroom. And watching hockey. And using loonies and toonies. And wearing toques. And drinking homo milk (in bags!). And curling. And using a garburator. And flying Air Canada. And measuring things in metres and litres and celsius.

It’s Much Music. And CTV. And Global. And CBC. And Hockey Night in Canada. And Degrassi. And Corner Gas. And Heartland. And Durham County. And Flashpoint. And Rookie Blue. And Dragon’s Den. And, you know, Rent-a-Goalie.

It’s coloUrful money. And free health care. And BEER. And Thanksgiving in October. And year-long maternity leave. And Dean Blundell in the mornings. And horrible cell phone plans. And hydro bills.

It’s Ryan Reynolds. And Ryan Gosling. And John Candy. And Michael J. Fox. And Terry Fox. And Wayne Gretzky. And Shatner. And Christopher Plummer. And Rachel McAdams. And Michael Cera. And Seth Rogen. And Donald Sutherland. And Cameron Mathison. And Eugene Levy. And Catherine O’Hara. And Will Arnett. And Cobie Smulders. And Nathan Fillion. And Scott Speedman. And Torrance Coombs.

It’s Metric. And Bedouin Soundclash. And Neil Young. And Stars. And Wolf Parade. And Broken Social Scene. And Arcade Fire. And Emily Haines. And Blue Rodeo.

It’s HOME.

Happy Birthday Canada!

  2. I love Canada. Mostly I love Canadians. Nicest people on earth! (But I’d be lying if I didn’t giggle every time I heard “loonies” or “toonies”).

  9. I think this just may be my favourite post EVER! The KD part made me laugh…apparently we Canadians eat more mac and cheese (in a box) than any other country in the world – or so said the 6 o’clock news on A Channel.

  12. Happy birthday to the county that gives you “Peace, Order and Good Government” (as opposed to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”). And I can’t imagine it any other way!
