(Warning: The photos you are about to see are slightly disturbing. You may want to proceed with caution.)

The last time I got a haircut was on September 24th, 2010.

I know. I KNOW.

They are looking for me on the compound. You know, all of my sister wives.

Oh, I love how you think I am kidding. I assure you, I am not. You see what it’s doing right here? It’s sweeping at my tailbone. MY TAILBONE.

So, yes, it’s very clear that it needs to be cut. And, if I’m being honest, the real reason why I haven’t gone to get it cut is 70% that I’m busy/lazy, but it’s that I am 30% terrified.

We have a history….bad idea hair and I.

Oh yes we do.

There was that one time that my hair was ORANGE.

And then there was the time that it was all pixie-like.

And then there was the Rachel.

And THE PERM.

It has been blond. It has been brown. It has been so red it looked purple under certain lights (hello, senior yearbook picture). It has been long. It has been short. It has been curly. I have had big bangs, wee bangs, side-swept bangs,no bangs.

Please help me help me.

(photos taken by this lovely lady)

Remember: Friends don’t let friends gets bad haircuts. Find me a good one. PLEASE. I will pay you in cookies. Or banana bread. I have a house full of bananas.

  1. I did the orange hair thing, too. Good times. You look adorable any way, but I love your hair long, wavy & brown. So pretty.

  2. I think the color here is what’s doing it for me, you know, for you.

Still looking, but this is my favorite so far.

  3. I have found that it’s better not to try and figure out what looks good on me, but to leave it up to the stylist. I’ll sit down and tell her a what my hair is like, this is what I like, this is what I don’t like, make it hot. I never know what it’s going to look like, but I’ve never not loved it when it’s done.

  4. Your back jawline isn’t nearly as pronounced as hers but I think your face shape resembles Courtney Thorne-Smith. When I googled her name, I like hairstyles in the photos in the bottom row, second and third from the right. Wish I could figure out how to paste them here.

  5. I’m currently obsessed with the middle part look. I think the picture below is a way you can keep your length. Maybe shorten your bangs a little? By parting in the middle I feel like it has this elegant flowy look.

  6. I love that you posted all of those photos we were looking at the other day – I still don’t think it looks like you!

I’m a fan of long hair, myself. Maybe just a trim? 🙂

  7. Your hair is absolutely BEAUTIFUL in the photo where you’re wearing the striped dress. I’ve had orange hair also. When I was 15 I dyed my hair jet black. When my mom saw me she dragged me to the salon where they bleached my hair 4 times and then dyed it brown. It ended in orange hair. I had to keep it that way until it grew ALL THE WAY OUT because my hair was so saturated with color it couldn’t hold any more. Ahhh. Good times!

  8. I just got a haircut today. The last time? Was October 2009.

    TWOTHOUSANDANDNINE.

The stylist made me all but sign a legal document stating I would never go that long again.

    {Also I want your hair in the second to last picture- beautiful!}

  10. Well I love the picture of your pixie cut – so stinking cute (If you were a full-time Triathlete 🙂

So, some side swept bangs, trim about 4 or 5 inches off the back, add some shallow layers, keep it a light brown with a few blonde highlights and I think you’ll like it. A lot. (Says the girl who’s been cutting her own hair since October of ’09, SAD I know)
I had the same haircut for about 10 years, and I stuck with what worked. Sort of.
Good luck, btw- I still love your glasses, and always will.

  11. I’ve had so many different hair styles over the years, too. And I’m now at this growing out stage, which is the absolute WORST. So I’m saying keep it long! Maybe some bangs? But if you’re anything like me, the bangs will get annoying, and you’ll put them back in a headband or clip after a week. Good luck, my dear!

  12. I feel your pain, my dear. My last hair cut was in July. I’ve got crazy layers all over the place.
I vote long layered hair, long bangs, light brown with blond highlights?, straight.
