February 18 11

We are big fans of Doritos at our house. The truth is, we are big fans of any snack that leaves our fingers orange and cheesy. We have tried every flavor. Cool Ranch. Sweet Chili Heat. Zesty Taco. Spicy Nacho. Jalapeno. Even Cheeseburger. Yes, even Cheeseburger. 99.9% of the time we end up coming back to the tried-and-true original flavor, because, really, it’s pretty much perfection in a triangle.

But, that doesn’t mean we don’t jump at the chance to try the new flavors.

So, when two bags of two very different varieties of Doritos showed up on my doorstep, I quickly opened up them up and got my three pint-sized taste testers to decide if it was

that we liked the best.

Chip A, Onion Rings N’ Ketchup or Chip B: Buffalo Wings N’ Ranch.

The interesting thing with this Doritos campaign is that they aren’t just introducing two new flavors. They are introducing two and leaving it up to YOU to decide which one stays and which one gets destroyed forever. It’s true. Until March 13th, Canadian consumers have a chance to head on over to the WRITE THE END website and compose the last twenty seconds of an unfinished Doritos commercial that destroys one of these two flavors.

THE PRIZE? $25,000 and 1% of future sales from the winning flavor.

Worth playing for, eh?

(PS. The Martells are creating their ending destroying the Buffalo Wings N’ Ranch, because, ew, none of us liked that one!)

But not only do I want my lovely readers to be able to win $25,000 from the WRITE THE END site, I want YOU to be able to win something here! So, I have up for grabs a Doritos prize pack (worth over $150) including tshirts and mugs and movies that start with their endings (like Pulp Fiction, Inception, and Memento) AND the two new Doritos flavors for you to try. To win, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your absolute most favorite Doritos flavor EVER.

The contest is open to all Canadians and will run from today, February 18th, until 5pm EST next Friday, February 25th. Winner will be selected randomly by random.org. Good luck!

(In the interest of full disclosure, I was approached by Fleishman-Hillard Canada to participate in this Doritos program. All opinions expressed here are my own and definitely do not represent Doritos.)

  1. I hear the Sweet Chili Heat flavor so much. My kids don’t like it, they prefer the original flavor but I’m totally okay with NOT sharing.

  5. I haven’t tried the onion rings one (only us Canucks seem to enjoy ketchup flavored snacks… what’s up with that?!?) but, um, I really like the buffalo wings and ranch ones.

    Don’t hate me… surPRIZE me.

    Because, clearly, I’m punny.

I’m pretty sure if I were to win that cone-like director’s thingy would get me fired from my job. And it would be worth it!

You know what’s actually gross? Sandwiches made by Adam. Just saying…

  7. My ultimate favourite is Sweet Chilli Heat! But honestly, I have not met a Dorito chip that I did not love! They are perfectly crisp with always the right enough amount of flavour!!! And when you think the fun is over ’cause the bag of chips is done. The best part is left (the stuff on your fingers!) Haha I love that commercial that was on t.v.during the super bowl!

  8. The first is still the best. But I really like the Baked version. They seem to add soooooo much more orangey-powdery taste to them…perhaps to make up for the fact that the awesomeness is perched on paper :)

  10. I really dig the Cool Ranch – especially the licking my fingers afterward part, but I know how disgusting that is, so I only do it at home. And they’re awesome in sandwiches, but not PB&J; ew.

  11. My faaaaaavorite is the Cool Ranch.

My husband hates that flavor, so it works well for me. Tried the cheeseburger ones a bit ago … yuck. I like pretty much all the other ones though.

Now I wanna head out and find those two new flavors. I’m thinking I’ll like the ketchupy ones. Doritos are a perfectly acceptable breakfast food, right??

  13. What?? You didn’t like buffalo wing flavoured chips??? My gut instinct would be to choose that one over the other without even trying them! But trying would be more scientific-like so sign me up! My favourite Doritos at this point are the Sweet Chili Heat flavour!

  37. Andrew Schneider: “Ever since we crawled out of that primordial slime, that’s been our unifying cry, More light. Sunlight. Torchlight. Candlight. Neon, incandescent lights that banish the darkness from our caves to illuminate our roads, the insides of our refrigerators. Big floods for the night games at Soldier’s field. Little tiny flashlights for those books we read under the covers when we’re supposed to be asleep. Light is more than watts and footcandles. Light is metaphor. Light is knowledge, light is life, light is light.”
