Only, sigh, it’s not entirely true. I am, yes, nursing a lardy food baby this morning thanks in part to an emotional eating tendency and in part to a tremendous amount of deliciousness at my fingertips. The Thanksgiving meal is my most favorite ever. turkey, stuffing, gravy, peas, sweet potatoes…and don’t get me started on dessert. Just don’t. And hey, did you know that diners serve Thanksgiving meals all year long? Because I? Did not know this.

But, really, it wasn’t just about the food. And I know that I complain (I like to complain…who knew?) about being tired and having both girls sleeping in my room and THE MESS and the stress and the disconnect and being tired and not being able to watch Glee until last night, but I kind of loved the chaos. I loved the family and the friends (and yes, the food).

I loved helping my stepmom and aunt make their 700+ homemade Reese cups. And by helping, I really mean making sure that they don’t kill each other. heh. and making sure that I don’t eat more than 12 at a time…

I loved standing at the Atlanta half-marathon finish line to see my husband and my sister and my sister-in-law cross…even though I am still angry that *I* didn’t run. Even though I KNOW it was the right decision and there will always be more races and I am already getting back on the treadmill today…and it’s not just to get rid of the lard.

I loved taking the kids to Conyers to go ice skating OUTSIDE in 60 degree weather. I gotta say, it was wonderful to be skating without hats and gloves and scarves and running red noses. And watching my daughter Emily, who has avoided skating her entire life because she hates to do things that she doesn’t do perfectly (um, I can’t imagine where she gets that from…) go from 0 to 60 in about an hour. She was super hesitant getting out onto the ice, but, like, 40 minutes later she was skating circles around me. And seeing Josh get right back on the ice after taking a face plant and busting his lip and tooth and nose (what? he’s canadian…he’s never been on the ice without full hockey padding and a full face mask!)…

And I loved having HeatherB here with me for Thanksgiving even though neither one of us ended up running the race..BUT, we did end up with excellent Black Friday purchases. And I loved going to the park with all the kids and taking the girls for special manicures and pedicures and exposing the kids to their first viewing of  The Muppet Christmas Carol (LOVE) and forcing myself to sit through Home Alone 2 and reminisce about the good old days when TSA didn’t steal babies but would totally let you get on a plane, alone, to New York City instead of your actual Florida destination. ah…back in the day when you didn’t have to remove your shoes and belts and jackets and sweaters and underpants. I loved taking my kids to the backyard for an impromptu photo session where I got sooo many good pictures, but, you know, since I don’t know how to edit, am currently working on forcing my friends to help me…look at this one that Heather did for me…

  7. It’s my favorite time of the year too. It feels so magical, and I love Turkey. And GRAVY. And family and turkey and gravy.

Also, whoever belongs to that kitchen the pictures were taken in: it’s beautiful. I can only dream of ever having that much counter space.

  9. Did Glee make you cry? Not that it made me cry. Although I think I got dirt in my eye at one part.
