April 2 09

Shopping at H&M is truly a humbling experience. And by humbling, I mean shitty on the ego. I’m not going to lie to you. When my size 2 body tries on a size 2 dress, that size 2 dress should be able to fit, or at least pull up over my thighs. I shouldn’t have to send the poor girl working the dressing rooms back for the 4. and then the 6. and then the 8. and when I could barely fit my body into the sausage casing that was the size 8, I realized that maybe there was something wrong here. Instead of sending the 14-year-old back to get me the 10, I gave up. I should NOT have to go up 4 entire sizes to be able to button something over my boobs, which really aren’t THAT big.

I am almost laughing H&M.

almost.

What I am laughing at, however, was watching Zac Efron donning a god-awful 1989 hairstyle dancing to Bust a Move in the Toronto Premiere of 17 Again last night (can you do me a favor and click this link? i mean, it’s worth it for you to click over if nothing else than to see a picture of the biggest, baddest bully of all time, Greg Tolan-slash-Johnny Lawrence…

greg

but, there have been some problems with people being able to access it and it would really make me happy if you could let me know if you are able to access it. i could reward you with cookies? come on, everyone likes cookies!) seriously, y’all, it was worth seeing the movie just for that scene. Also, while we’re discussing Zac Efron and dancing movies, did you hear he’s doing the remake of Footloose? WHY ARE THEY REMAKING IT? it’s perfect just the way it is, in all its dated Kevin Bacon in his glory days glory. no?

also…there’s no way Zac Efron is going to agree to sporting the moose knuckle.

footloose

BWAH

something else I am laughing at? Hurley and Miles discussing the LOST timeline. AND HURLEY USES A BACK TO THE FUTURE REFERENCE.

miles-and-hurley

oh my god. and they discuss the VERY question I asked on MamaPop last week because seriously you all, after LOST is over, I need to discuss it for days afterwards. I watch the episode, my brain starts to hurt, and then kristabella and I try to make sense of it all, and then I just have more questions for her and then my brain explodes. and then her brain explodes. and it’s a total bitch to clean up.

  1. It really makes my morning when I read your blog and you have a picture of Greg Tolan. I don’t think anyone else even knows who and where he is from. ……. Thank you.

  2. As the keeper of all Zac Efron information (because, in my heart, I am 14, achieved by transposing my actual age)(though albeit, sometimes I’m a 14 year old boy)(though not when it comes to Zac Efron), he’s recently removed himself from the “Footloose” project. Part of me is happy (“Quite defiling my childhood, Hollywood!” she says, shaking her fist toward California) and part of me is sad, because photographic evidence indicates Zac looks damn fine in a tank Tshirt. Except he’s lifting the bottom of it up to show this stomach, so yeah…

Anyway, I’m sounding a little stalkerish here. Suffice to say, I want to see this movie, and have perhaps watched the trailer for it online quite a bit for quite awhile, and p.s., I LOVE Just One Of The Guys (and Like Father Like Son)!

  3. Cookies! I don’t like cookies if they are made by someone else in their kitchen and then they ship them to me. YUCK!

Also, I had trivia last night so I didn’t watch Lost last night! I will tonight and then we can discuss and clean up brain matter together!

  4. After I watch Lost I feel like I have been kicked in the face. Also, EW does a good roundup of the Lost episodes, if you haven’t popped over there yet.

  5. I don’t watch Lost (I know – I’m a freak) and I’ve never seen HSM (I do know who Zac is though – Cougar Rawr). But my musing here today is different. Why in.the.hell. can you post pictures of your bad self and talk about being a size 2, but if I do it I get slammed with freakin hate mail. Hate I tell you!

I think you just have a more engaging personality so it’s sort of like Heidi Klum – you want to hate her, but you just can’t do it.

    Rant. over.

  6. I heard that Zac Efron backed out of Footloose to make a movie “more challenging to him as an actor.” I almost spit my diet coke across the room.

  8. I too loved that exchange last night. It was great to see Miles go from pompous to just as confused as the rest of us over the course of a few minutes.

Also? Am I the only one who thinks that if the Losties hadn’t crashed in the first place that the Dharma Initiative would still be around? (If no plane crash, no Kate to carry Ben to Alpert… but if no crash then no Sayid to shoot Ben to make him need Alpert… fuck, now my head hurts.)

  9. For some reason every time I watch Lost I get all nervous and assume there is a big final exam coming up and I am just not grasping the material.

I need a Lost for Dummies.. People going on vacation. Big accident. People stuck on island. People try and leave island. Battle with natives. Leave island. Return to island… huzzah!I need to live in simpler times where Lost was Gilligan’s Island.

  10. I think Zac Effron is YUMMY. Which I’m pretty certain qualifies me as a cougar at the ripe age of 26.

  11. After every episode of Lost, I have to discuss it with my husband — he seems to “get” it better than I do. I love that last night’s episode had a sense of humour about itself as well as some serious tear-jerker moments at the end.

  12. I feel so uncool that I don’t watch Lost. I feel even more uncool that Zac Efron doesn’t do it for me. It’s not the fear of Cougarhood because, hello, *Rob Pattinson*!
I just think ZE is too *pretty* for my taste.

  15. I watched Lost for the first time last night. Holy cow. I caught the Back to the Future reference but that was about it.

I also had no idea what a moose knuckle was and then HELLO! Thanks for that tidbit (well, maybe more than a tidbit) Ali!

  17. DUDE. H&M is evil. I am not usually a 6 or an 8, AND YET.

Fortunately, there’s a strategically-located Haagen Dazs right outside in which I can drown my sorrows at being 3 or 4 sizes larger than I usually am.

Also, the moose knuckle. MY GOD, THE MOOSE KNUCKLE.

  20. Swear on my life to the shopping gods, I was in H&M this week in downtown Boston and thought THE EXACT SAME THING. Except – I’m not a size 2 to start with, hence you can just imagine my level of pissed-offed-ness.

  21. While I’m dismayed that they’re remaking Footloose, (it was always best in its stage version,) I’m glad Efron is staying the hell away. Just because he acted in a shitty Disney movie doesn’t mean he has the chops to do anything other than shitty Disney movies.

  22. My hair dresser, who barely weighs 90 lbs, suggested I don’t buy real maternity clothes because “H&M goes up to size 16 and that should get you all the way through your pregnancy!” I love her, but I’m a size 10 at H&M on a good day, I seriously doubt my boobs and ass that are growing at a scary fast rate, will fit into an H&M 16 at nine months pregnant.
