okay, so, here’s the thing. i have good hair. don’t try to tell me that i don’t because i will cut you. but just because i have good hair doesn’t mean that it and i don’t have a somewhat sordid history…

like the years i rocked the crooked bang…

dsc_0270

dsc_0271

and then the years i rocked the Eskimo-bang. this was NOT a good look for me. also not a good look? the oversized polo shirt TUCKED INTO an oversized long-ass khaki skirt….what you cannot see in the picture…the matchy-matchy green socks.

dsc_0258

and then there was the trip down pixie lane…

dsc_0272

then there was the time that i had ORANGE hair

dsc_0275

dsc_0276

and the time i had a three-month old baby and didn’t realize that my roots were so bad that the top of my head actually used to blend into the background in photos..

dsc_0257

and we’re not even going to talk about the time my mother someone convinced me to get a perm and the time my mother someone convinced me to let some man on the beach in the bahamas braid my entire bloody head.

which brings us to today.

hairdresser day. one of my most-favorite days. the day my roots disappear and i get rid of some excess weight and apparently…turn into Farrah Fawcett MEETS Jessica Simpson??!? YIKES

dsc_0265

YEEHAW

ps. and even though all you people here and on twitter are VERY kind, i still hold by the fact that i look like i belong in a strip club. in the deep south. in the 70s

  1. 1. You’re not as, um, “flighty” as Farah.
    2. You’re much cuter than Jessica.
    3. You don’t make me want to flick you in the forehead.

Awesome cut — you DO have good hair. :)

  3. Oh wow, Emily looks JUST LIKE YOU. Hopefully you steer her around the matchy-matchy green socks, orange hair and, for the LOVE of GOD, the perm. ;-) (and where are the perm pics?)

Your hair looks super cute and Jess and Farah have nothing on you!

  5. Oh wow it’s so pretty!

It looks high maintenance. That’s why I have the sassy blonde bob- with-very-slight-wedge from-back-to-front.

Cause I refuse to deal with the enormity of a blow out your hair would require of me!

    It sure is pretty though.

Just don’t do the Pixie again. Or orange.

  20. I like it! I think that is one of those things you just need to embrace because your attitude about your hair, when wearing that hair, would seriously make or break it. Maybe you’ll even get hit on!

I have no idea if I have good hair bc I’m so damn lazy that no matter what style I get I fall back into wash/condition/half-dry because I’m late and throw into a pony tail by 10am :/

  21. For the record, in a recent GChat with Ms. Martell herself, prior to my reading of this post, I called this look “Jessica Simpson at a chili cook off.” Ali and are are clearly long lost sisters. People, it’s a silly do. Ali does have fab hair, but this Farrah thing? Isnt’ fab. With a shampoo, she will be gorgeous again, so it doesn’t really matter.

  25. You might not like this, but I’m calling you out right here – You’re hot!!

My hair stylist likes to go crazy with the hot rollers and back combing brush. I left last fall with 70s era Dolly Parton hair. I caught a glimpse of myself in the van window and laughed so hard I was crying. If I had photos of it, I’d share them with you (and only you!). Alas, all that hair wouldn’t fit into a shot!
