so, the husband downloaded this movie and was begging me to watch. i resisted. Son of Rambo, i thought? is that going to be like Son of Kong? um, yeah, no thanks…i’d rather watch the last 6 episodes of Six Feet Under (we are in the homestretch!)

and then i caved.

and good god, i’m so glad i did. Son of RamboW (there’s a W! who knew?) has not really even one little thing to do with Rambo or sad little sequels. it does, however, have everything to do with quirky British boys, awesome 80′s pop culture…the big Zack Morris phone! Pop Rocks and Coke! Depeche Mode! kids pirating movies…ARRRH! a busload of French exchange students, including an interesting dude named Didier (whose name i thought was Didler, due to my dirty glasses. hahah. diddler) crazy psycho cult religions with a creep Brother Joshua.

and, um, Chuck Bass is in it. with his British accent. and he plays an asshole. *swoon* (yes, give me an asshole with a British accent any day of the week and twice on sunday. i mean, hell, you know this already…i love Jude Law, right?)

and speaking of movies…um, yeah, guess who is going to see this tonight?

oh. yes.

Emily is actually going to a party tonight. an all-girls’ High School Musical going-to-see-it-in-the-theater-at-night party. she’s so excited she can barely contain herself.

she’s excited to wear her new uggs+sweatpants outfit we bought yesterday. oh, my Emily, dressing, officially, like a teenager. and most importantly to her, a HSM3 teenager…GREAT.

so, i’m going to be THAT mom. the one that hides in the back so her kid can’t see her.

i know, you are secretly judging me. but, i assure you, this has little to do with me wanting to spy on Miss Emily. not at all. it’s just that the theater is a good 30 minute drive from our house. so, i’m going to drop her off, and there’s no way i’m driving home and then coming back. NO WAY. so i figured i’d just stick around. but i’m not going to tell her. i’ll just sit in the back and be THAT mom. rest assured, though, i will NOT be doing this when she goes on her first date. this is purely out of convenience.

(plus, i kind of want to see the movie)

(oh my god. i can’t believe i just admitted that)

(oh well, at least my girlfriend FADKOG will approve)

in truth, when she goes on her first date, i may send our friend Shane as a spy. heh. he KNOWS Emily’s going to be trouble. because he’s got a troublemaker of his own. and then he made a video…

once you get past the tongues and the hot dog talk, there’s some hilarious dancing styles of Miss Emily and Miss Samara.

i will be so happy to have this video when they are teens. hahahah.

  1. If my daughter wants to date, it’s going to be with me in the back of the movie theatre. She’ll know it. I’ll know it. “Chad” or “Gunther” or “It Doesn’t Matter What My Name Is I’m Still The Guy Who’s Trying To Kiss Your Daughter” will know it too.

  2. Honey, if I could, I would so be sitting in the back of the theater with you! However, I’d drag you down to at least the middle row so I could be that much closer to Zac’s magnetic eyes! :)

As it is, I’m going with my boys ASAP!

  8. Isn’t blogging really just all about documenting your kids’ most embarrassing moments so you can hold them over the kids later on in life and use that information so they’ll never get a date thus avoiding awkward dating situations? If not it should be.

Ok, question for you. Real Uggs or fake. Just cause I’m curious to see if I’m the only sucker who bought real ones for my kids. No judgements here, none at all.

  14. Okay, of COURSE you have to be at the theatre. She’s SEVEN! I would be there, faSHIZZLE! Don’t feel weird about that. And, Emily’s SO proud of her mom — so you’re FAR from THAT MOM….

    ENJOY THE MOVIE!!

  19. We saw Son of Rambow on our flight out to Hawaii last month. It was the “2nd movie” of the flight, so we had low expectations. It definitely wasn’t something I would have chosen to watch had I not been held captive in an airplane, but we actually enjoyed it. And, I had no idea Chuck Bass was in it until you mentioned it. Shame on me, since I was catching up on season 1 of Gossip Girl during that time.

Now I have to see the movie if Chuck Bass is in it. Is there anything better than Gossip Girl right now? I think not.

Yeah, I’d be sitting in the back to see the movie too. I’m VERY mature. But I love teen movies!!
