do y’all want to hear about part 2 of my trip to NYC…wherein i didn’t actually make it onto the flight that the bitches at air canada so *kindly* put me on? wherein i was told that they overbooked the flight – the one i was guaranteed on because those fuckers cancelled the flight because THEY were understaffed – so i would have to take a 5:30pm flight to Newark? wherein i proceeded to

cry. cry. and cry again

(i so wish i was kidding about the crying. there were tears. lots of them)

until they got me on the 12:30?

or would you rather hear about how i spent an evening staring at Ilka’s BAG of Jimmy Choos that she bought at a sample sale?

or would you rather hear about my brunch with Metalia???

we had a great time at Bubby’s. and afterwards she and i walked around semi-aimlessly until we found an American Apparel and a Dunkin Donuts and I was in heaven. Striped knee-his for baseball AND iced coffee? sweet.

what is missing from this picture is Heather B. she had the most wonderful intentions of getting on a train and coming into the city to have brunch with me and Metalia. until her train had engine trouble and she had to turn around and go home. FAIL!!!

or would you rather hear about the total Jack Black lite waiter who served us, and served us, and served us margaritas at Tortilla flats until we were just drinking them straight out of the pitcher??

yeah…that’s what i thought…

too many good stories to tell…i’ll be back tomorrow to tell ‘em all. well, at least the ones i’m willing to share. for now, my sister and i are off to Union Square for last minute shopping and then on to buy me some cupcakes at Magnolia…because i’ve eaten nothing but carbs. and have enjoyed every minute of it…and now i need to get me one of these…

  1. gah drooling over shoes, booze and food! Hope you are having fun!!

  12. I can’t tell you how many nights I stumbled home from Tortilla Flats when I was a single girl living in the city. My roommates and I would go over there for a bingo game that they usually ran during the happy/dinner hour. I think it was Transvestite Bingo, but I’m not 100% sure of that…sometimes I make my life more glamarous in my memories! :) I used to love that place though!

  21. Hey, I was at bubby’s just yesterday for brunch. Although I was at the one in Brooklyn. Yep, that’s how we roll when we’ve got kids and we’re so old, our memories of Tortilla Flats are literally pushing 20 years. Sigh.

Love the Jimmy Choos. I would be so broke if I lived in NYC. Mostly because I’d spend all my time shopping instead of working.

  27. Next time try Porter Airlines…they go right from City Centre Airport (Toronto Island) to Newark. I flew with them on the weekend — free food, free alcohol. Prop engine plane with no tvs — but the food (sandwich with chicken breast and portobello mushroom) and alcohol more than made up for that!

  28. The book I’m reading just mentioned Tortilla Flats.
