attempt to NOT be such a music snob. i really, really am. i really, really wish i wasn’t, though. i realize that there’s a reason we have so many different radio stations. not everyone is going to like what i like. different strokes, right? but sometimes…things happen…where snarkyAli rears her head and says things on Twitter

yes. i know. on the one hand? MEN? Miley Cyrus? you’re cringing too, right? but, on the other hand, they should be free to make their own musical decisions..but, on the other hand…it’s Miley Cyrus.

attempt to NOT stay up ALL night watching Six Feet Under. I’m sorry, it’s just too good. i’m a few episodes into season 2 right now, and i need to watch. but when i do…things happen…

and i fall asleep. while my kids are eating dinner. i so wish i was making this up. but alas, it’s true.

attempt to take a compliment, no matter how off-guard it catches me. my bestie Tova came home from her month-long journey to Europe and brought me presents!

fancy pasta from Italy:

and a gorgeous necklace.

the best part about her being back is the return of our Monday after work coffee dates. i missed them. so, yesterday, we were sitting at second cup and she looks at me all serious and says,

“i need to ask you a personal question.”

(oh, shit. what did i do? what did i do?)

“Um, how do you get your underarms to look so amazing??!?!?!”

and she was serious. i was all, um, schick quattro?

attempt to contain my excitement. in two days, i’m going to NYC to spend 5 days alone with my sister. she bought me the ticket for my 30th birthday (because she is made of awesome).

it really is the summer of Ali. not only did i get to go to San Francisco to lick some of my favorite bloggers while my husband stayed home with the kids. and not only do i get to go to New York to SHOPSHOPSHOPSHOPSHOP spend time with my sister and see the lovely Metalia and i get to squish her baby! squee! while my husband stays home with the kids.

but THE SAINT is taking my kids. on a road trip. to my mom’s house. FOR A WEEK. by himself.

This week I am getting ready for Oliver’s third birthday party, which is on Saturday, here. There will be lots of people. And I still feel so shitty; right now I can’t even fathom having a birthday party on Saturday for a lot of people.

  3. I’m a total music snob too. We should start a club.

This week, I’ll be doing what I’ve been doing the past two weeks: trying not to sell my toddler on ebay and taking care of a newborn. I know, exciting, right?

But I can live vicariously through you and know that soon enough I’ll be FREEEEEEEEEEE!

Also getting further medical tests because I’m so stupid I flunked some blood tests last week.

Driving kids all over the place, blogging, getting my name on the bank account so I can be PTA treasurer. . .

*sigh* wish I had your week instead.

I want to go to NYC without kids. That’s sounds awesome. Your sister rocks.

I’m helping plan a wedding for my cousin who I am now ready to kill. I was thrilled to be included and asked to be maid of honor…till I realized why she had no friends to ask. biotch.

  29. Speaking of road trips, I’m on one with my mom and sis…we’ve hit up Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes and Tahoe so far.

Um and re: staying up too late to watch TV, a year ago when I finally discovered LOST (welcome to the party three years late, Kristin!) I devoured three entire seasons in LESS THAN A MONTH. Seeing as I had about three jobs at the time, that required a lot of will power and 4am bedtimes.

Have fun in NYC! Your hubby’s a gem!
