two lovely lovelies have begged me to talk about myself. haha. Amy and Julie told everyone six random things about themselves and have now asked me to do the same. i’ve actually done this before. several times. but, there’s no end to the ali quirks…so, here you go…

1. my all-time favorite comfort food is grilled cheese. My mother doesn’t cook. ever. she buys at the store and heats up. the ONLY thing she can make is grilled cheese. and i know that it’s the easiest thing in the world to make, but for some reason, hers is the best.

2. i only read every other chapter of The Grapes of Wrath in high school. i still feel guilty about it, even though my 10th grade English teacher Ms. Baker totally knew. she knew everything. she even knew i was going to be an editor. i am going to read it this year. and track her down. and tell her.

3. when i was in 6th grade, a boy told me i had elephant legs. two weeks later we started going out and he tried to kiss me at a bar mitzvah. ever since that moment, i have been confused by men and i have hated my body. to this day, i still blame him for both these things.

4. i don’t wear a watch, out of sheer laziness. i own a watch. a rather beautiful one, actually, that i acquired after birthing my son. the clasp broke about a year ago and i haven’t taken it in to get fixed. because i’m lazy. and it kills me every single day that i never have any idea what time it is. fuck.

5. the first website i ever visited, other than the AOL homepage, was this one. i was in high school. and the world wide web was a new and fascinating place. my very first screename was ktchandle. it was an homage to Katie Chandler in Stealing Home – – – a movie that i LOVED. everyone thought it was for kitchen handle. everyone was stupid back then.

6. i say that i like ice cream. because, seriously, who doesn’t? but when i really actually think about it…i don’t actually really like it. i mean, i’ll eat it, of course, but i would never choose it. it’s too sweet and leaves me feeling, erm, thirsty afterwards.

so…six people to tag…Angella, Haley-O, Miss, slynnro, Jennifer and, hmm, let’s go with Backpacking Dad.

  1. Mmm. Grilled cheese. I like mine with tomatoes, too.

Take your watch to Sears! They can fix any watch and they do it cheap.

  2. Grilled cheese with fresh tomatoes and sauteed onions. YUM! Did I spell saute wrong? Spell check says I did. Hmm…

Also, I don’t really like ice cream that much either. Weird, eh?

  3. One of the few things my son likes right now is grill cheese sandwiches. Mmmm – ice cream, my all time favorite treat!!! Especially soft serve vanilla…

  6. I always drink everything in site after eating ice cream. It’s not as great as people make it out to be. It’s sort of like a movie that has been hyped up too much, and then you watch it and you’re all, ‘blah’ …or not.

And the battery in my watch died a couple of months ago and I haven’t bothered to have it replaced. I haven’t known the time since January.

  10. Why is the little girl in the grilled cheese picture so entirely creepy?

Ice cream is so not worth the calories. It’s just fluff, and it leaves me feeling bloated and thirsty.

I don’t remember my first website but I remember my first chat room, I was 1 Silly girl and that’s where I met my Canadian.

I once dropped a class in college because it required that I read 12 novels and the first one on the list was Grapes of Wrath. I have hated every page of Steinbeck I have ever read. That must be some sort of blasphemy coming from an English major, but I can’t help it…I hate it!

  13. I haven’t worn a watch in about two years, because mine needs a new battery.

I love grilled cheese, too. Double cheese.

I do love ice cream, especially on top of a warm brownie with hot fudge sauce.

  14. For once I am excited about being tagged! I have posts banging around in my head and can’t pin one down.

I am the same with ice cream. It makes me thirsty as well.

I like it, but can live without it. Chips on the other hand…

  15. I dip my grilled cheese in ketchup (because it’s like a hamburger without the meat.)

People think that is weird. When in reality they are too chicken to try it. They will be amazed by the awesomeness of flavors combining!

  20. That little girl in the picture is looking awfully menacingly at that sandwich. I’m not sure she actually wants to eat it… she has a far more sinister use for this sandwich, I’m sure of it.

I have 3 watches with dead batteries… I’m lazy, too. Plus telling time, that’s what cell phones are for. 😉

  21. So… hot here…

Grilled cheese is actually one of the things I cannot make without a sandwich press. I do, however, LOVE it with creamy tomato soup.

    Mmmmmm…

I have lots of dead watches too, but they’re pretty so I wear them when I need an accessory. What else?

    VERY HOT HERE.

  23. Don’t bother with Grapes of Wrath – too depressing (and I ended up worrying about the pregnant girl the WHOLE time). Read East of Eden instead. You’ll love it.

And I’m with you on the ice cream thing.
