Yesterday, as i buckled Josh into his carseat (yes, he’s five and yes, i still buckle him. if i had to wait for him to do it, we’d still be sitting there) i noticed he had himself a stack of dimes, probably about 30 of them, in his lap.
Me: “Dude, where’d all that money come from?”
Josh: “Tyler told me that if i be’d nice to him, he’d pay me lots of dimes. So i played with him and was nice to him. and now i’m rich!”
Emily: *snicker* “Josh, you totally just got, like, used!”
there are many things in this world that i just don’t understand. Drew Barrymore fans. women who don’t like shoes. women who like crocs. The English Patient. pageants. AND…my daughter, Emily. where did she come from? she’s SEVEN!
you wanna know something else i don’t understand?
how anyone actually thought the idea for the movie ‘She’s the Man’ was a good one. i mean, seriously. Amanda Bynes, as a girl? okay, not exactly my type, but i buy it.
but Amanda Bynes as a boy? there’s nobody buying that, honey…
not that i’ve seen it or anything…
so, yes, i DID go to a blogger get-together on Saturday night. and there is some photographic evidence. Sadly, it’s horrific. (photo curtesy of Miss Jana over at Something Baby Blue…she and i will have words…because i KNOW there was one with my eyes open…)
I will admit, i was apprehensive at first. a room full of bloggers. there were a few i’d met before, and a few i was dying to meet. a few i was nervous about because i don’t read their blogs. a few i nervous about because they don’t read mine. Is there anything more mortifying than saying “I’m Ali. um, Ali? no? Cheaper Than Therapy? no? doesn’t ring a bell? aha. okay. swell meeting you, then”
but other than the fact that my drink cost $12 and sucked (i ordered a girlie drink because Mama Tulip hadn’t gotten there yet…and i didn’t want to be the only girl drinking beer. mmm…beer), and i didn’t have a single moment to take my camera out of my purse (too busy flopping my lips), and i was hot (as in sweaty hot…not HAWT hot) and i didn’t get enough time with the people i was with, and i didn’t even get to talk to some people, and i had to bolt early because the husband was leaving for Vegas the next morning to leave me all single-mommied.
it was great. i got to meet some of the bloggers i was dying to meet (you know who you are…mmm…smooches!). and spend a little time with the ones i already knew but don’t nearly see often enough (you also know who you are….smooches to you too).
and the bellies! there were so many pregnant bellies!
and it was good prep for Blogher. because, holy freakin’ crap, i’m going to Blogher, yo! but, Tanis assured me that Blogher was awesome. and way less intimidating than Panorama on a Saturday night with a whole bunch of bloggers. and i’ll believe any woman that hot.
