(haha. just ask Anne)

not me, of course…because you would have to first actually, you know, be a bridesmaid to have to wear something hideous….
like this

or this

or this

…but alas, i’ve yet to have the pleasure of wearing something too bright or too puffy or too whorish or too patriotic or too smurfish.
but i know that MANY of you out there have. you’ve got stories AND photo evidence.

i’m not usually one to cross-post, mostly because i’m a selfish little blogger and i want you to read and comment at both places, and not just one (what? sue me, okay?) but i’m having a contest over on Juice: Entertainment News with Extra Pulp that you are NOT going to want to miss.

i know what you’re thinking…two contests in one week? Miss Ali, you really ARE the best! So, while you are still welcome to come on over here and enter my choose-ali-a-new-pair-of-boots contest where you can win a $20 Starbucks gift card (well, minus the misto i was in desperate need of…) AND you can hop on over to Juice where you can win 2 tickets to the prescreening of Katherine Heigl’s new movie 27 Dresses AND a free Palm Treo 700wx

i guess Christmas is just coming a little bit late over at Cheaper Than Therapy and Juice. Mwah! kisses!

  1. You’re not alone.. I’ve been a bridesmaid exactly once, and the dress wasn’t hideous. It was a shade of pink that I will probably never wear again, but it definitely could have been worse.

  2. Oh my god, my mother totally had her bridesmaids wear those dresses in the second picture…in a rainbow of colors and with the hats too!!

  3. Do you think I could get that American flag dress with a maple leaf? Now THAT would be classic…..

  4. Fortunately, I’ve only been a bridesmaid twice and only one of the dresses was hideous. I’m not sure if it was hideous because it was truly bad, or because the wedding took place in 1991 and retrospect has influenced my opinion. 🙂

  5. I was a bridesmaid once. The dress was hideous. Once was enough.

  6. I’ve been Bridesmaid once and wore a dress that was made while I was preg – er…don’t ask preg friends to be Bridesmaid and expect them to look good.
I’ve been Matron of Honour once and our dresses were gorg. Expensive but gorg – and reversible two. They were two piece tops and long skirts in midnight blue and a gold/creamy colour.
Not sure where I could wear it again but I’d love. I looked well endowed and thin 🙂

  10. Oooh I totally want to see that movie. I should win for plugging your site. Just one ticket will do. thanks.

  11. I think I just puked in my mouth. What are people thinking?!

  12. Wow… the bridesmaids in the second picture look like they’re weaing cat collars over their… dress… things.

  13. I’ve always worried what my bridesmaids thought of their dresses. My mom made them, and every single one of ripped through the bust or butt. My maids spent the whole night stitching their dresses back together in the bathroom stall.

  14. Yikes those are awful dresses. Thankfully both of the ones I had to wear were nice, except for the colours – one was what only can be described as “celery”.

  15. Alas, I have have never been a bridesmaid. A bride, yes, twice. But never a bridesmaid. Go figure. And I am pretty sure I did not torture my girls by forcing them to wear some gawd-awful thing. If I do say so myself. 🙂

  16. Aw. thanks for the shout out! Glad to know in an internet full of hideous smurfettes, I stick out in your mind :^).
