May 2 07

first i saw it over at flip-flop’s, then over at fina’drea‘s and then over at Beck’s. it seems that i’m a little late to the game. it’s spreading like Lindsay Lohan’s legs. Stephanie over at Adventures in Babywearing is giving all of us bloggers the challenge of all challenges.

posting a photo of ourselves…without makeup.

this is a great idea.

i watch all those Dove commercials and stare in awe at these women. i actually say out loud…”i sooo would never” but…good on them. for being brave enough to be comfortable in their own skin. for believing they are beautiful, even if they don’t look like supermodels. for celebrating who they are.

so…i took it all off. not the clothing, sickos, we’ll save that for the Dove models.

but i took off the foundation, the mascara, the shadow, the lipstick, the blush, the under-eye concealer. it’s all gone.

IMG_4023.jpg

it’s amazing, some women, like Cameron Diaz and Eva Longoria, look like completely different women without the makeup.

and i? pretty much look exactly the same. i look the same.

American Idol: top 6

why can’t every week be Bon Jovi week? mmm…Bon Jovi…everyone was good last night. except for maybe Jordin…but i love her anyway.

best line of the night: “I want the camera to get my slim side” i swear, i’m with Simon, i could kiss Lakisha right now. that song last night bought her at least another week on this show.

Blake with blond hair? hot. Blake with dark hair? *drools*. i love him for taking risks. he’s awesome. oh, Jon Bon Jovi of little faith….

Melinda chooses by far, the very worst Bon Jovi song EVER – but she nails it anyway. because. the. girl. can. sing.

Phil was surprisingly good…but i guess it makes sense…since he’s been practicing this song for the last 12 years.

Chris. he needs to go home. he forgot his words. in front of Jon Bon Jovi. ack! also…he’s channelled his inner Justin Timberkale for far too long. it’s time.

going home? Chris and Phil. i hope, at least. could be Chris and Jordin. but, i really hope not. she’s too good.

  1. You are beautiful. You’re a natural beauty.

I mean that with every fibre of my being. :)

  2. tease! j/k

You really don’t look much different without makeup, at least in my opinion. (And, again in my opinion, I think that’s a good thing.)

  3. i haven’t worn make up for years (diane can attest to that!). now if i am going out for a really dressy occasion (like, REALLY dressy) i might throw on some mascara and friends are “wow, you look great!”, which makes me question how they think i look without it!

on the plus side, my daily routine is decidedly low-maintenance–if i manage to brush my hair (verus wearing a baseball hat) it’s a good day.

  4. I think after all this, I look the same, too- with or without makeup. Just with makeup I look a little less pasty and overtired. Thanks for playing along!

  5. You look beautiful!
    Seriously.
Way to be brave about it.
I’m pretty addicted to makeup (not tons of it, but I really like to even out my skin tone – and wear eyeliner and lipgloss …) but lately when I’ve been exercising and drinking more water I’ve noticed I can go with a lot less make-up.

  6. Yeah, I can’t help but be pessimistic. I’m so sure those Dove gals are wearing makeup and some airbrushing.

The only lucky souls who sees me without makeup is Mista and SF…Poor things.

  7. Don’t feel bad. So do I. Of the few pictures there are of me (I am always behind the camera), I am almost never wearing make-up. So that is nothing exciting to look at. ;) You look great with or with out make-up though.

  8. I have that People issue and there is NO WAY those girls are makeup free. NO freaking way! You can see liner on some of them and they’ve obviously got powder/foundation on. I was kind of annoyed looking at them.
The section should be called Stars Without Lipstick.

  9. You’re very delicately pretty and you DO look just the same! I’m one of those people who looks a LOT different with and without makeup, but I don’t wear it everyday. Let the public suffer: that is my motto.

  11. You look just the same, BEAUTIFUL!!

Good for you, I myself hardly ever wear makeup, I’ll take that extra 15 minutes of sleep in the morning. Plus I’ve never been a foundation/concealer kind of girl, I like to wear eye shadow and/or mascara if I go out somewhere nice. I guess I’m just lazy.

I love those Dove commercials it is about time that they show real women and not fake Hollywood BS airbrushed, malnutritioned models.

  15. First, you look great with your makeup off. I’m gonna post one of me that way, too.

Second, you hit the nail on the head with AI last night. I’m a HUGE Bon Jovi fan (Bed of Roses is my favorite) and I wish they did more of it. Chris is headed home… and though Phil did well last night I really want him gone. He’s just so creepy looking!

  18. Okay, now that I’ve read it, here goes: You look great with or without makeup, and I totally agree with you on the American Idol, but I’m still completely sticking with Jordin because her song was my favorite Bon Jovi song. But Blake was definitely my FAV of the night. I saw the camera like flash over to him before commercial and I was like “NOOOO” but then when he performed I was like “YESSSS GO BLAKE”

    so I guess it worked?

  19. You still look amazing even without the makeup! Which means you are naturally beautiful!!

I agree, Blake rocked it last night. Although since they are combining scores from last week, LaKisha may be on her way out.

  21. GORJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You wear such natural makeup as it is — unlike Eva Longoria and Cam — that it’s no wonder you look just as great without makeup. Maybe, if it’s possible — you look a bit younger without it??!! Biatch! ;)

Your idol recap/predicts are BANG ON!

And won’t be seen any time soon without my make up on. If I did, and if any of you saw it, I’d have to kill you. All of you. And I really like you guys. So, Nah. Ain’t doin’ it. You can’t make me.
