April 12 07

i was all ready to post a thursday thirteen this week…i was thinking worst celebrity dressers…the hardest part of this would be narrowing down the contestants. but, there was laundry to do. and dishes to wash. and blankets to be made. and book launches to miss (oh, yes, i’m not pleased about this one…but i didn’t have a babysitter. my lord, not having a nanny is tough!) and season finales of Friday Night Lights to watch (it’s a freakin’ amazing show. is it bad that i was crying when they won state?). and blankets to be made. and floors to be vacuumed. and rooms to be cleaned.

and haircuts to be surprised by!!!

yes. it’s true! the husband came home last night and surprised me with a brand spankin’ new haircut.

ps. if any of you haven’t been following this story…the husband decided he wanted to grow his hair long (think: a bushy version of Han Solo). even though i tried to stop him. i threatened to leave him. and when that didn’t work…i threatened to stop getting waxed. you know, on my wholahay (c’mon, it’s better than Nayaim…what’s your name? Nayaim. i know…but what name did you pick? Nayaim. fuckin’ Renee….If you aren’t watching America’s Next Top Model…you really should.)

hecuthishairhecuthishairhecuthishairhecuthishair.

i’m totally doing the happy dance. and i’m totally calling Argentina today and booking myself a Brazilian. This not waxing thing was just as much a punishment for me as it was for him.

the lovely lovely Di over at Di’s Book Blog has given me a thinking blogger award. She wrote ridiculously nice things about me…which, naturally, makes me love her even more than i already do.

now, my challenge is to nominate bloggers who make me think. most of the blogs i read make me think. There are two bloggers in particular – – – who i’m fairly certain have already been honored with a thinking blogger award – – who make me think. all the time. about things i don’t necessarily like to think about.

about how when i complain about all the things that i can’t handle about my mother….i really should just be thankful that i have her in my life….because this blogger, Mamatulip, doesn’t have hers. her posts are hilarious, but they are also straight from her heart.

about how things happen in life. even to witty, snarky bloggers. Karen over at Troll-Baby has been going through something of late. something serious. something she can’t shake. and i can’t help but think that it could just as easily be me. i’ve been there. i could be there again.

so, i’m officially tagging these two amazing women with the Thinking Blogger Award. mwah! i love you guys!

now, i wanted to leave you with a funny Josh story. we are getting tons of mileage with this one.

he and the husband are sitting on the airplane and he’s crouched himself into this acrobatic position. he’s playing the gameboy (which he has officially stolen from me…and i’m quite peeved about it) and concentrating.

and then he farts.

and then he screams, for all the plane to hear,

“daddy! i just farted in my own face!”

he is such a boy.

  10. OMG too funny! Do you know how many men would KILL to be able to do that?

We were at my sister’s rehearsal dinner and my newphew leaned over to my dad and said, “Granpa, I’ll be right back. I’ve got to go fart!”

  12. Thanks so much for the thinking award! That’s really sweet. I haven’t really blogged any more about that whole situation because quite frankly, I was getting sick of lectures, so as I said to Y from Joy Unexpected on IM’s yesterday, ‘I’m “FINE!”
You know what I mean, I’m sure. When a woman says she’s fine in a certain way…well, she isn’t.
Long story short, I’ve re-suppressed everything and cancelled the doctor’s appointments. I don’t have time for this breakdown. Know what I mean?

  13. […] Ali of Cheaper Than Therapy awarded me the Thinking Bloggers Award for my posts about this thing I’ve been going through.  As I commented on her blog to thank her, I told her about talking to Y yesterday on IM’s and us both saying “I’m “FINE!”‘ […]

  15. Love you too!

I already know that I have to read your blog with one eye closed on Fridays lest I read a Grey’s surprise before I watch it on the DVR…but now this…

I had NO idea they won state! I mean, I haven’t watched in months but Coach Taylor does make the occasional appearance in my dreams…um, the ones my husband isn’t in if you know what I mean. What a HUGE shocker for the season finale? Did the quarterback walk too?

  16. my nephew has that guitar and he was nice enough to let my kids play it and now they want one lol. Farted in his own face. wow

  17. This is the first time I’ve read your blog, and I have to say, for a while there I thought “Wow, I didn’t realize I blogged or that I could even write so well.” I have a wee obsession with ANTM, and force my poor, super long haired BF to watch with me. I keep praying he’ll cut it off, but am afraid to say anything for fear that I’ll turn into his uber controlling mother. But, I just got a modified-Sarah haircut (I loved the bob) and now am hoping that it’ll inspire him to cut his off. I could only handle one set of tumbling locks across the pillow at night.
