April 2 07

On Saturday morning i put Isabella down for a nap. not unusual for a Saturday morning.

ten minutes in i hear the familiar “ew, ew. stinky. ew. ew. mommydaddy. ew. ew. stinky.”

naptime’s over because my lovely child has decided that her crib is her own personal toilet. it’s the only place she poops. we put her in the crib and we know….ten minutes later….she has finished her business. It’s high time to toilet train this child.

so…i go in to her room, annoyed that now there’s no chance she’ll be taking a nap. which means there’s no chance i’ll be getting any sort of rest. i’ll be trying to grab her off of my dining room table all morning.

and what do i find in her diaper?

(not actual nickel found)

yes. that’s right. my daughter swallowed a nickel.

and then i found it. in her poop.

isn’t my life glamorous??

(for more glamorous martells family fun…visit me over at urbanmoms today and see all about our plane trip)

  1. hey Ali its too bad she wasn’t some magical baby and drop gold nuggets in her diapers for you .maybe you should put her potty in her room and wait a bit before leaving her alone.that way maybe you can catch her and put her on the potty to do her business.

  5. BTDT! We had to wait for one of our girls to pass a metal pin that holds the swing arm on the screen door. Boy….THAT was fun. Missed my year end ball party cause we had to take her to the ER, cause she was puking. And we hadn’t realized she had swallowed it.

  10. My niece swallowed a small piece to a Bingo game when she was at day care. My sister found it, after it had ‘passed’ and brought it back to day care. Talk about ew ew.

Good luck with the potty training :)

  11. Oh LORD!! I’d have tossed my cookies all over the place.

My son was potty trained when he was 13 months old and my daughter at 15 months. I also put them in a regular bed when they turned a year old. If the crib is the only place she’ll crap, throw out the crib!! LOL

  13. I wonder if that is what it was like for Cracker Jack’s mom when she changed his diaper.

Maybe she’s going through ‘the change’?

    Ok, i’ll stop.

  17. When the bunny was younger, she ALWAYS woke up a few minutes into her nap with a poo…same thing, she wouldn’t settle back down. It is so frustrating!
I cannot believe she swallowed a nickel…well, at least you know it comes through properly!

  20. My brother used to paint his cot with his poo every now and then.

Thankfully, he is now 37 and can restrain himself.
