…and just come out of the closet already…

the lovely Sheryl of Paper Napkin is taking a lovely blog hiatus…but that doesn’t mean that all of you get to be lazy and lax. oh, no…she might be off drinking pina colodas and getting caught in the rain, but you have no excuses.

It’s National Delurking Week. y’all have an ENTIRE week for this. (well, not quite a week…since this was supposed to start on Monday…i’m a little behind…) so come on out and tell me something. anything. and since no one really cares what i had (or what you had) for lunch, i challenge you to this. Maggie put it at #1…so it’s always a good place to start.

All of us should just learn to tolerate stupid people. But what if we didn’t have to? If you ruled the world, things would be better, at least in a few small ways.

what would you do to help get rid of stupid people?

if i wasn’t dying of pain, i’d probably have something more witty to say. yesterday, i went to the gym for my one hour consult with a trainer to set me up with a program. to show me how to use the machines. and help me decide what weights and settings are best for me. which was great.

only problem? she didn’t know what she was doing. it was her FIRST day. basically, i was showing her how to move the seats and change the weights. she kept setting the weights too high…not realizing that those extra five pounders that you can add on were, in fact, already on…so, if she thought it was 30 pounds, it was really 45. she killed me.

can’t. move. my. arms.

which makes typing rather hard. and climbing the three flights of steps this morning? forget about it.

so, while you’re thinking about how to make the world a less STUPID place (can we stop people from putting the stress on the first syllable in the word buffet? it’s pronounced bu-FEY, nut BU-fey) and delurking, i’ll be over here…cursing out my trainer….

  1. Do I “delurk” even though you know I read? “BU-fey” – seriously? People say it that way?

  2. re: buffet… everything was fine until Friends told us Phoebe’s last name… we’ve all been in pronunciation hell ever since

re: delurking… hi, my name is Jeff, and I read your blog (but you already knew that, so I need to think of something else… hmmm…) and I also have three tattoos (there that’s better… or not…)

  6. Since it’s delurking week … Hi! I read your blog all the time – but never comment. I don’t know why. I found you through Haley. But then the help desk guy (to bug me) deleted all my favourites, and I lost you for awhile. And, then I had to catch up all over again and the comments I wanted to make would have been very old.
    Anyway …
Great Blog. And Happy De-Lurking week.
And PS. My son purposely pees on stuff (like our couch and the cat) as well. And finds it pretty hilarious.

  8. Well, I hardly have to de-lurk…..you know me here……..but, on the stupid people thing, can’t we just brand them, then ignore them? Hopefully if they are branded, people will be less willing to reproduce with them, causing them to become extinct. Too harsh?? Probably…..but…..

  9. I think if there are no more stupid people in the world, there would be too many snobby people who are too smart to listen to each other. Stupid you say? Well, that’s how I think anyway. Like Forrest Gump said “stupid is as stupid does”, and I don’t even know what that meant. ;-)

  10. Not technically a lurker, but I don’t comment as much as I read. So maybe that makes me a little bit of a lurker.

    Either way, hello!

  12. I’d like to teach cops to pull speeders over in a parking lot or something OTHER than a busy, 2-lane road as to not cause a traffic jam. :)

I love your blog, Ali. I try to check in every day. :)

  15. Oh no! Ouch!
So we’re getting rid of the stupid, are we? I think people who callously disregard other people’s safety and happiness should be severely fined. Fine them, I say!

  19. I would definitely keep any and all coworkers people who feel the need to focus on the most negative possible aspect of every single thing in life far, FAR away from me. I just can’t deal with listening to the bitching all day, every day. Nothing about your life is THAT bad, so just shut up, please. The world would be much better as a result.

  23. I’m here, I read, I like!
Hmmmm….well, you went to a trainer and are sore, I went to a massage therapist and am sore, I have the world’s most stubborn knot in my back. There, something you didn’t know about me. I’m proud of you by the way! That really sucks that you got a crappy trainer though. The pain that is felt after too difficult of a workout is awful….I used to know that feeling, but well…honest…I don’t work out anymore :(
