Can we talk for a moment about a serious problem that i have? What is with these word verifications? hmm? i understand WHY they exist, but i don’t understand why they have to be so complicated! why must some of them be 45 letters long? and why do they have to make the letters so hard to see? on the blogger word verification…sometimes you can’t tell if it’s a “q” or a “g”…or if it’s an “i” or an “l”. on the typepad verification, sometimes the letters are so hidden in there, i can’t tell what it is at all. is it a 6? a c? who knows? Am i the only one who has problems here? anyone? please tell me i’m not alone!

if you could erase one Christmas song from existence, what would it be?

mine, hands down, would be Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney. seriously, this song is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I’d rather listen to a child whine for an hour.

what about you? songs you can’t stand?

tomorrow is my office Christmas party and they do an annual white elephant gift exchange. y’all know what it is…it’s the one where you have the choice of picking a new gift or “stealing” one of the ones that is already opened. (yes, certainly in the Christmas spirit). There’s a $20 limit. I didn’t know what to get. gift card? but i hate giving gift cards. i like to get them, but i feel like giving them is a cop-out. go the Michael Scott route and buy a video ipod? (seriously the best Office episode ever.) nah. mani/pedi? wouldn’t work for the men….

look at me. the cop-out. i ended up biuying a $20 gift card to Old Navy and a mini m&m container. because everyone like to get her fash-ON (how freakin’ annoying are those commercials??!!) and everyone likes chocolate.

blows Suri Cruise out of the water….

but nowhere near as cute as this child:

  1. We have our office gift exchange today as well. We usually do gag gifts, and when we do, I don’t participate. But this year we had to pick a gift that started with the first letter of our name. My gift: Sambuca. I love it, so .. I can always steal it back!

Hmm.. you know what starting to get annoying, and, don’t get me wrong I cried during this song all last Christmas. It’s, Christmas Shoes. Who made this sad, very sad song. I think it’s a ploy to get people to shop, give, shop, give.

  2. I LOATHE word verification! I am right there with you on the confusing letters. Hate it.

Christmas song I hate? That stupid Mariah Carey song…I can’t stand her so mixing her with Christmas…evil. Yuck.

My family does the stealing game and we seperate it out to men only and women only so that us ladies don’t end up with a case of beer or something lame like that. 🙂 Gift cards are always good though! I try to find a fun bracelet at Target (that looks more than it cost) or something fun at Pier 1.

  3. I hate word verification. It makes me squint like a granny with her glasses on her head.

I’m not crazy about any christmas songs out there…Just not my thing.

I love gift cards…so many possibilities.

  4. Our office used to do a Yankee swap (same as white elephant) but people started to get a little carried away. 2 years in a row do you know what I ended up with at the end of the night? 12 rolls of premium toilet paper! I wish i was joking. Well the second time it happened the gift giver was thoughtfull enough to throw in a can of chunky chili to go with the toilet paper.
There were a few creative people in the office who gave gifts that appeared to be one thing but were actually something else. A box of cereal that was very carefully opened and had gift certificates sealed inside comes to mind. I went thru every roll of that toilet paper and never came up with a gift certificate for anything.

  5. I totally would have bought a gift card. I always do that for random gift exchanges. And it always seems to be the most popular gift.

  6. I have the same problem with the word verification. I can’t tell you how many times I hit “submit” and it makes me do another one. It’s so annoying!

I got a gift card for my office gift exchange, too. Ours is just secret santa, not white elephant, but I got the new guy who nobody knows anything about. So a best buy gift card it is…

I would erase “The Little Drummer Boy” from Christmas song history. It’s a cute enough song, but I can’t even think about it without getting all those damn “pa rum pum pum pum”s stuck in my head for the rest of the week. Drives me crazy.

  7. I’d ban “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” only because I’ve sung it to my children a ga-zillion times in the last three weeks.

  8. I hate the word verification things but I love the people who have them…so I guess they’re a necessary evil. They really toy with my head though.

  9. I love many, many Christmas songs, but that Paul McCartney song you mentioned makes me burst into hysterical tears of fury. Erase THAT one.
    You office gift sounds excellent.
Word veritfication. Bah. You’ll note my new webpage address because I’ve given up trying to log in from my old one. Bah.

  10. That last photo is terribly darling!!!!
My friend just posted recently about word verification, too. Too funny…

  11. Oh how I agree…

Hate the word verification, Wonderful Christmas Time … and “Fash-On”…don’t even get me started.

And your cutie is the cutest 🙂

  12. I love Paul McCartney, but that song is wretched.

One of my favourite cheesy Christmas songs is Last Christmas by Wham! What blows my mind is I heard a remake of it in a store the other day! Who would want to remake that slice of Velveeta??

Comment by Chrissie on December 13, 2006
  13. Can I obliterate the entire Jessica Simpson holiday songbook? I was telling my husband the great thing about Christmas carols is honestly, anyone can sing them and not sound too bad – except for her.

Comment by Stacy on December 13, 2006
  14. Yes, there are many expressions of holiday cheer that need to be banished from the planet, and the Paul song is right up there. It doesn’t even make any sense…

Comment by Trish Ryan on December 13, 2006
  15. The worst part is when the word verification won’t even display no matter how many times you hit refresh. I just took word verification off my blog a couple of days ago – but then last night I got spammed a couple of times, so we’ll see how it goes – I might have to put it back on. Now if beta would just go back to letting people comment on my blog…

  16. I despise those wicked verification things!

  17. LOL=- i have posted about the stupid word verification before too.. IT’S NOT EVEN A REAL WORD! and when you click for a new word, THEY MAKE IT HARDER! fuckers!

Comment by jennster on December 13, 2006
  18. I agree with whomever said that damn Wham! song. Hate it. And now? It is stuck in my head. Dammit.

And Shiloh has got to be the cutest baby, next to your’s… and mine. 😉 Aw hell, she has nothing on our kids.

Comment by Mrs. Chicky on December 13, 2006
  19. seriously why do they have to make the letters all squiggly too? like isn’t the random order enough? Its too hard for me.
I cannot wait to win one of your blankets on HBA

  20. I once got the word TWAT on word verification. That was fun.

Your patootie is a total cutie.

  21. word verification just makes me irritated. have not been out much lately, brain is on fire from seasonal overload. Have a great holiday!

    Comment by anne/crazymumma on December 14, 2006
  22. I’ve had many a comments not posted because I couldn’t figure out the freakin verification code.

I don’t really get to listen to that many Christmas songs because Spence is a scrooge. Either I have to listen to him complain the whole time, or he just turns it down so low I can barely hear anything.

Shiloh sooooo freaking cute. Way cuter than Suri (that’s mean isn’t it). 🙂

Comment by Mandi on December 14, 2006
  23. Right now I would vote to ban any Christmas song by Sarah McClachlan because Starbucks seems to have her singing Christmas songs on an autoloop. Catch me on a bad morning and I might just push my way past the young, stunned baristas, find their CD player and break that CD!!!

Favorite is “Do They Know It’s Christmas”…brings a tear to my eye every time!

Comment by Di on December 14, 2006
  24. I hear you on word verification….I hate it too. Even though I have it on my blog. I put it there because I didn’t want to be spammed by all the ads. I don’t want to have to censor and moderate all my comments either. I don’t know why they have to make it so difficult though. As for your girl being cuter than Soho Pitt or whatever her name it, I completely agree. Your baby girl is absolutely gorgeous!

  25. I hate the word verification. I wish everyone would turn it off.
