September 4 12

Today—officially—I’m the mama of a 6th grader, a 5th grader, and a 2nd grader.

We didn’t really buy school supplies.

We didn’t buy new school clothes, since our semi-annual shopping trip to Buffalo ended early and in tears (mine).

We didn’t buy new shoes.

We don’t know any of the other kids or parents.

We don’t know any of the teachers.

We didn’t know where to go.

We didn’t take the right pictures due to the rainstorm—there are no backpacks, and I didn’t use the awesome frame I bought *just* for the photos. Two porch shots, for the win.

But there’s one thing I know for damn sure—I am the mama of three awesome kids who are going to have the greatest 6th, 5th, and 2nd grade years.

I just know it.

I hope everyone celebrating back-to-school day today—parents, teachers, and kids—has a great, great day!

  1. GAH! They are all just so cute. I love that you’re passing your love of all things stripes on to Bellezilla. She rocks them just as well as her Mama does.

  2. Oh yes. She picked her outfit…it wasn’t even me!

(isn’t it awesome that they picked matching outfits for my photo? They are learning!)

  6. Hooray for public school!

I also love that even without uniforms they are still kind of in uniform mode. 🙂

  7. The two younger ones were easy…they picked and it was a simple process. Emily…on the other hand, stressed and stressed and stressed…and ended up with…white and jeans. She *is* a photographer’s daughter after all. hahah.

  10. […] The pouring rain on the first day of school turned yesterday morning into a bit of a gong show. Parents dropped their kids at the entrance to the gym and, well, just left. So, I didn’t get to see their teachers or size up the other kids in their classes. I just…left. It was a strange feeling, just leaving them there. This morning, though, I was able to hand-deliver each child to the appropriate drop-off point. […]
